Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: vintage Personna twin
    Razor: eBarbershop Type O clone
    Brush: Omega 10049 boar
    Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave

The Type O clone is nice razor. It's mild but the twin blade helps amp it up some. Smooth results today with the Fat Friday setup. Can't ask for much else. Have a great Friday!

    Razor: Schick B1 Repeater
    Blade: Schick ProLine B (1)
    Brush: VdH Boar
    Soap: Der Vergulde Hand
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

Today was a tale of razors and blood. I decided to take a day off from the OC thing to try a razor which arrived earlier this week. As some of you may recall, last week, I managed to score a Schick B1 Repeater and case for the princely sum of $12.99 shipped. I've been playing with it off-and-on all week as it seemed to have a loose head pivot and a stiff loading mechanism.

Interesting note on Repeaters: If the pivot is loose, then trying to load a blade may cause the head to pivot, resulting in a blade jam. I came really close a couple of times and this was with the vintage blades that came with it (not modern ones).

Despite continuing concerns about the loose pivot, I went ahead and used it today with a fresh Schick ProLine B blade. There was one close call when the head pivoted unexpectedly, but no incidents otherwise. All told, a close shave with just a hint of sting from the Alum.

So, what about the blood that I promised? I'm getting to that.

After the shave, I took a look at this B1 and my first one to see if I could determine what was going on with the pivot. As near as I could tell, the newly-acquired one was a bit more "sprung" at the point where the handle folds into the head. So, like any good idiot, I unscrewed and removed the head without first removing the blade. That got me a cut on my left index finger. Next, I crimped the head a bit too much, apparently, which made reassembly difficult and the mechanism stiff. As part of testing, I let the razor load another blade. Finally, while pushing on the still-stiff head, I somehow sliced my right thumb for even more blood. (I think there may still be spots on the handle.)

Everything seems to be working, though I probably need to go back sometime and see if I can get the pivot to loosen up a tad. It's still too stiff for convenient use.

    Vitos Super Red
    ATT SE-G
    Gem S/S [ 1 ]
    Pitralon Classic A/S Lotion

This is really my first Shave with the ATT SE-G, since the base plate was modified along the length of the
cutting edge to make it work. Previously I could not get a Shave with it unless it was Shimmed- Advice from ATT !. A friend had similar problem and modded both his base plate and more recently mine.I had tried his one out with success.
Using a dependable Soap, I found the shave to be smooth and comfortable, the Razor having a nice degree of blade feel but is not aggressive. I got it right on the cheeks/chin where the finish was superb, but need to get the angles right around the neck where it was not quite right. Nice now to have a Razor that works.

One has to be philosophical about these things :) . This was on my want list for a very long time, and still cost less than one of the off the shelf new fangled SE razors.

My first use of this budget Soap, found it lathered very easily, no doubt the brush helped. Provided excellent slickness/cushion and aided me to have a good shave with the King Cobra.

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Arko Shaving Stick face lathered well with the Jayaruh #317 brush. I did two passes with the Gem Jr. Bar Safety Razor with an Original Gem Cutlery SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Vintage English Leather AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Just picked up my first 1912 Dammy off the Bay for under $20 with the wooden box, no blade holders though. Razor should clean up just fine and I can't wait to try a Gem Blue Star Carbon steel Blade in it. It'll be fun using a Gem again after using my Injector razors daily the past four months.

There is a PIF going with a Schick N2 across the street. I shaved with one last night. This one has a twin blade in it. The Brute Revolution is a more modern smellimg AS.

Thanks Fuzzy, I've been thinking about trying the twin blade Schicks in my Schick Grip. Boy, they aren't cheap. I'll check out the PIF across the street.
