A very rude awakening this morning. Evidently the battery that powers the home alarm during power outages is toast. So the alarm is designed to alter you with a shrill sound that would wake the dead. While the alert was helpful, the sound at 5 am in the morning does not make anyone happy and certainly didn't impress my wife. I have been informed I should have such routine maintenance items on a sheet and take care of them in advance. None of it helped my head suffering from too many adult beverages. Oh well. At least the day should get better.

A wonderful shave this morning. The C40 with the APS Flat Top feels nice in the hand while face lathering. Three passes and touch ups ended in a stunning BBS. One weeper robbed me of an epic shave. A splash of Agua Balsamica and I am off to Battery Plus for some new batteries. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

    Thanks Jim.

While the alarm was a shock, it was functioning as designed. Let's hope that is the only time it sounds.

Very true. This sound is not the full blown alarm but bad enough. We have had it go off in the middle of the night when someone broke in the basement door. Between the alarm, a snarling Malinois and a pissed off owner, the would be intruder decided it was best to find another house to rob.

    Excellent picture and gear, Clint!
You have me wondering about our alarm. We had all the keypads updated a couple of years ago, I think he said something about taking care of the batteries.

Thank you Jim. Our system has a battery backup for the alarm and a second for the cellular uplink. They are supposed to be changed each 5 years or so. I missed it by about a year or so. When one of the batteries goes bad the key pads make a horrible noise and flash Battery Trbl every 5 hours until they are replaced or disconnected.

It looks like Neal also got a tuck of his least favorite Russian blades. :) You can toss them into the box with the Ming-Shi. :)

On a more somber note, I'm reading some things here about a certain purveyor of mattresses filing for chapter 11 and closing stores. Is everything okay by you?

    BTW, Happy Birthday! :bounce015:

Bunch of great reports early this morning, gentlemen!

Keith @Keithmax, wonderful razor porn shot as usual today.

Jim @Norcalnewb, showing your photo without a filter really lets that Aristocrat shine through today. Is that the original finish or did you have it replated somewhere?

Jim @jluc, today's photo and report really underline how far you've come - a fairly aggressive razor loaded with a Feather and you're getting a bloodfree BBS like it's no big deal!

Joseph @Primotenore, I don’t think Colgate ever smelled of anything but a plain soap smell. But the holder adds some antique pizzazz to the picture to balance the super purdy 1908.

Clint @clint64, at least you know your alarm functions as intended. Meanwhile the restore on the brush is stunning and that recoated razor positively glows. Great gear today!

    Razor: Schick B1 Repeater
    Blade: Schick ProLine B (1)
    Brush: VdH Boar
    Soap: Williams
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

I spent some time yesterday on the "new" B1 and have managed to get the pivot into the "Goldilocks Zone" of friction. Similarly, some soaking got the slide into decent form. So, back onto the horse I go.

Not a lot to report, really. A nice close shave with no issues. I had some initial concerns about roughness but I think it may have just been me finding the correct angle.

I have the same knot as yours and Clint’s, just a little smaller (24mm) and look forward to your review of it.

Love your effects, Jim, but that razor deserves the ‘straight up’ look you went for today. Stunning.
