Sunday's Shave 1969 Stiz Osobaya Russian Straight Had a very nice and close shave with this razor .Still tweaking the edge in .Still gave me a BBS Shave .
Shortened Filarmonica 14 Sub Cero I got lucky where the chunk was - able to keep the name intact... but had to change it to a round point to keep it. Enjoy your shave! Tom
Todays shave was with a German/American Made Razor. I had a spectacular 2 pass shave, that left me BBS. Zero issues, just a fine shaving razor, that takes a very fine edge. Razor- "Brandt No115" Extra Hollow Ground. The M.L.Brandt Cutlery Co. New York and Germany. Brush- Wilkinson Sword Boar Soap- Arko/Sandalwood Scented Aftershave- Vintage Avon Spicy. Triple Crown Decanter
Razors: GD66 and FW Engels (Testing differences in edges. Gd66 has Arkie edge by me, Engels has 16k synth followed by Escher by @M14Shooter ) Soap: Cella Brush: Fullmoon Knot by Milton @ TurnNShave A/S: Big Beard Qlum followed by Nivea Sensitive GD66 took the left side of my face, Engels got the right side. GD66 had a little trouble going against the grain. Slightly. After that the XTG, XTG passes had no issues. Engels had no trouble what so ever in any pass. After apply alum, splash, dry and applying the aftershave ( no huge difference in stinging from alum), I took a quick feel around to see if any difference in the shave could be felt. Both sides of my face feel nice and smooth. Dont feel much irritation on other side post shave. I do like the edge that M14 has on the Engels a lot. I'm gonna have to work more on my honing technique to get that 66 Arkie edge better. But had fun 8m any case.
The Black Surgical Arkie is just gone to smooth and polish your edge a little .The key is a proper bevel followed by a progression up to about 12-16 K .The Arkie is not gone to remove deep scratches .The key is to put a shave ready edge on the Arkie and it will improve and smooth it out in most cases.
i view the Arkansas Surgical Black stone, as a "Super Finisher". It is to be used "After" your other finishers are used. It is very very hard, tight grained stone, that @M14Shooter is correct at saying: will improve an already shave ready edge.
Shave #12 with the Filly 14 edge longevity test, still shaving like just off the stones, so far, so good. Cream was D. R. Harris Marlborough lathered with a Simpsons 57 Best. Myrsol Plastic topped it off. A really nice shave. I haven’t used D. R. Harris in a while, they’re great creams. Cheers, Steve
