Well, there's always that last frontier of Wyoming. :) (For those just tuning in, it refers to a Mattress Firm map which showed a presence in 47 of the 48 contiguous states, all except Wyoming. I've always wondered what forces prevented an expansion into there.)

In Jersey, the density is more like that of pizzerias or Chinese take-out places.

Seriously, though, as a consumer, I never could understand how the specialty mattress industry could support that density of retail locations for a product that potentially had an 8-10 year life span. One almost imagines a kind of "Green Eggs And Ham" scenario where the consumer resists the idea of buying a mattress but is slowly worn down has he passes mattress store after mattress store. But unlike Sam-I-Am, there will always be more mattress stores.

Thanksgiving holiday here in Canada. I had a leisurely late morning shave today, continuing with the NEW SC and Spoiler. Hadn’t used the Jack Frost in some time, so I guess it qualifies for Odds and Ends. While I don’t consider many of my soaps to be ‘seasonal’, the wet forest scent of this one is definitely ‘autumn or later’ for me. As the temperatures here in the Rockies cool at night, I thought it was time to pull it out for Menthol Monday.
The Sudsy Soapery creates a quality lather, and two passes later I as smooth enough to putter around the house. We had our family dinner yesterday, so today is just a catch up day on a few autumn jobs at home.
    Have a great day all!

Thanks, Andrew. She never makes a comment about any of the CL scents I have, which is interesting in itself given the originality of them. Her best comments are saved for Old Spice scents (she acknowledges her beloved grandfather was an Old Spice man) and a few Barbershops. Her only negative comment continues to be on Gentleman (which I heard about again a few weeks ago after returning home, fwiw). The vast majority she doesn’t say boo about. I take that as a reason to keep searching for more...

Great Menthol Monday set up, Jim!
I can’t say for certain that we have all done that, Jim, but I suspect a vast majority of us have. I have done it with a TTO a few times this past year. Good things usually don’t follow. It is a testament to your technique that you didn’t slice yourself open.
Awesome photo, Clint. Sorry about the rushed shave. I hope the beautiful brush was not part of the problem...
Good luck at the new job, Fuzzy. Yup, love the 100 year old aspect of the OT as well. Pulling mine out next week.
Awesome ABC, Andrew! Glad to hear the knot is a winner...I’ve got to find some time to make a handle for mine.
    Simply a stunning razor, Doug!
Had to read it a few times to get all the barbs. Well done, Charlie! :happy088:

I suspect the Wyoming issue may be related to two items. 1. Lack of population density 2. Too damned far to drive to deliver to the ranches in the middle of nowhere. Not sure how that keeps Montana in the picture but it's at least a working theory.

In the three years I've been selling mattresses I have seen the same people buy multiple mattresses. Guest beds, kids beds, beds for the college kids, all of those add up on top of the "master bed" that only gets changed out every 10 years or so. But yes, you are correct. Mattresses are a semi-durable product and stores like Mattress Firm are not "shopper stores". Nobody has ever walked in just to "look around and kill time". If they're in the door there is a specific reason that has to do with a bed. Makes for an easier sales job. I don't have to separate out the "tire-kickers" and it means the flow of traffic is such that I have time to, oh I don't know, watch Netflix, read a book, post on a shaving forum, you know, things like that.
