Jim @jluc, I have never left a 3-pc head loose but I have forgotten to lock down the doors on my Fatboy before. It does make for an interesting shaving experience. Glad your technique was good enough to avoid bloodshed.

@brit and @jtspartan, great photos and reports. Gary, are you thinking of a replate in nickel perhaps? Jason, interesting that your wife doesn't seem to mind any of your splashes except for Gentleman. Any idea what element of the scent combo annoys or bothers her?

Jim @Norcalnewb, Fuzzy @wchnu, Andrew @Linuxguile and Clint @clint64, I enjoyed your photos and reports today too. Jim, I see you are back to using photo effects again. Clint, the Flat Top looks great in that brush you restored. I am quite enjoying using mine, which I was lazy and bought already set by APShaveCo in a Rubberset 400-style handle. Fuzzy, I agree that there is something special in using a century-old razor and getting a great shave. Good luck with your new job!

Monday afternoon October 8 - Thanksgiving shave

Pre: wash with Hendrix Classics Barbershop hand/bath soap
Gillette NEW LC Ball End / Astra SP (1)
APShaveCo U-Brush (Rubberset 400-style plastic) set with 24mm Flat Top (SynBad?) knot
Hendrix Classics Barbershop soap
Alum and Hendrix Classics Barbershop balm test jar

Not much to say today: shaved with the third of my never-before-tried-by-me Gillette NEW Long Combs; same great shave as the other two. The NEW OC definitely seems milder to me than the Old Type. One thing I did notice looking at all the photos here: with the exception of my Single Ring Old Type, every single Old Type and NEW OC razor I have has a Ball End handle. Other people are shaving with these NEWs with neat-looking thicker Bar(?) handles, but all I have in the box is Ball Ends... I will have to go look through my boxed razors and see if one of the ones that was originally in a box and called something like a Bostonian etc. is and OC has a different handle...

I did a full two passes today for a BBS. The alum was a bit warm in spots on my neck but nothing major. When I rinsed it off, the sensation disappeared again, and the Hendrix balm cooled everything off permanently.

i use and love jeeves soap and splash.we should have jeeves january...

 

thank you,i am trying my best to complete a 30 day focus with oc only ,nacets and wilki brush. as long as i keep up with the razor i will call it mission accomplished..

 

I'd be down for this, though given the current state of my collection and the frequency of which I shave it would take me about 10 months to use them all.
