I guess I am now part of the Old Fogey generation (hey, I even walk with a cane part of the time now so I even look the part.) I simply can't imagine buying something like a mattress, couch, chair or even car without seeing it in person to test it for personal fit and comfort first.

As a duty counsel giving advice to people under arrest, one of my personal private pet peeves is children (because I can't call them adults) in their 20s and 30s who have been arrested for something and want me to call Mommy and Daddy for them to make it all go away. Especially when they were previously arrested for something, were released with conditions they promised to follow, breached those very simple conditions, and are now literally crying that it's unfair the police won't just let them go on a Promise To Appear again but are being mean and holding them in jail overnight to have a judge decide if they get out again. If you are going to make a deliberate decision to break your earlier promise (by seeing someone you promised not to contact, by drinking when you said you wouldn't, by not following a simple curfew, etc.), then at least be man or woman enough to accept the consequences without whining when they catch up with you.

I want to tell people that on average 5 times a night but bite my tongue because it wouldn't be "professional"...

It's the 30s and younger mostly who act like this. The older men and women are more likely to accept the situation without a lot of moaning about unfairness and rationalizing why their actions were not their fault.

Sorry, but this rather hits a nerve with me. Rant over.

When I have finished trying my box of previously neglected OCs, I may pick some to get fixed up. I can see myselg getting an Old Type and a NEW LC done in rhodium for exactly the same reason. Mind you, I could also see getting a particularly ratty one of each Cerakoted to match my red/black "Ink" scheme Gillette adjustable trio...

TBH, specialty mattress stores seem to be almost some kind of throwback to the days when you would buy a TV or record player from the "Radio and TV Shop" or a stove from the "Appliance Store". (And if you were building something, the hammer and nails came from the "Hardware Store" while the wood came from the "Lumber Yard".) Oddly, back then, mattresses would be in a special area of the "Furniture Store".

Somewhere along the way, most products got rolled into one or another big box retailer while mattresses apparently became some kind of boutique item.

I did have the understanding the BoS scent would be released under another name. The cologne Herod is currently available should anyone desire to further the fragrance.
There were several purchases not accounted for by The 30 DC. None of the photos are in any Crew Members styles. It's a mystery!

The thicker Bar handles don't seem to be of the pressed pieces type construction. No split barrels that are common with ball end handles.

Where do I sign up for your News Letter?

We seem to be extending Childhood into the third decade for First World people. With longer life spans the goal posts have moved?

11% of mattresses are bought online. Mattress Firm upgraded their online store to help capture part of that business. However, how far that percentage will climb is anyone's guess. Casper, the biggest online seller, plans to open 200 physical stores in the near future because they are running into the "we want to lay on it before we decide" problem more and more. It's good news for those of us still in brick and mortar retail.

I must be a kid at heart. I hate dealing with people in most cases. I applaud the self-service registers in places like Wal-mart. Saves me having to talk to one of their cashiers. I love the food delivery services (and work for them too) because I can order what I want and a total stranger brings it with a smile and I never have to be interrupted while eating. I think, though, that being out front in sales for so many years has made me a bit weary of dealing with the public in general. I have a tendency to frown, growl, and cuss when people drive up to the store at times even though I need them to do that to make my money. However, when they walk in that door they are instantly my best friend and I'll do anything I can to make them happy and satisfied. Yeah, I know, you can call it slimy. But after dealing with the public in restaurants for 15 years and sales for about an equal number now, I've lost my love of most of my fellow man. Members of this forum, of course, are an exception. :angelic007:

    Razor - Fatip Piccolo
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Wheatstate Barbershop
    Brush - Stirling Two-Banded Synthetic
    Post - Alum

A busy day today. People still think we celebrate a day named after a certain explorer in the mattress biz. We don't, but we don't tell them that, and they come in looking for deals. They get them and I get paid some money. Win-win. Then a few hours delivering food and finally home. It felt great to see the Fatip waiting for me, loaded with the mighty Voskhod. The only decision was the Odd ball soap. Well, I have to go to Kansas this weekend so why not the Wheatstate Barbershop from @Drygulch (I'll be whizzing by on I-35 early next Sunday. Then again sometime on Monday - listen for the whizzzzzzzzz). I've used this soap a couple of times and it wasn't horrible. I tried paying a bit more attention to it tonight. While the scent isn't as "barber shoppy" as some I like, it isn't bad at all. And, with the synthetic brush working its magic, I got a very rich and creamy lather that provided some fine slickness too. Not bad. Not bad at all.

The shave was 2 passes and touch ups. The baby is in the house and I'm ready to relax before passing out for the night. Hope you all had a good holiday (if it was one for you) or just a great Monday otherwise!

Just between friends, the new planned emphasis on donuts over cookies (yeah, the poll was just a diversion - it was part of our most recent 5 year plan which replaced the last three 5 year plans) should distract the dissidents as we move forward to bring them back inline. I'm sure you'll keep the secrets that jelly donuts are a part of the process....and nobody can resist jelly donuts, real or imaginary.

Been there, done that. On a head shave. Talk about a wake up call. Glad you figured it out without having to waste a blade early. AND - that's some quality technique that allowed you to go that far without some major damage. Extra cookies!!!

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: vintage Personna Ultra Chrome
    Razor: Schick I1 injector
    Brush: Stirling Kong synthetic
Soap: Hendrix Classics and Company Barbershop
Post: Witch hazel, Jeeves of Hudson Street Tobacco Bay Leaf aftershave

Back home after a long weekend trip. Two days of growth swiped away with ease and comfort with this combination. I'm going to stick with the Hendrix sample until it's finished. I'll break for Fat Friday but otherwise will titanic the sample. High quality soap and I enjoy using it.

    Have a great day!
