    One day we'll learn that @NCoxSTL works for Gillette Russia. The mattress store thing is just a front. I looked up the address when I was in STL, and it was a doughnut shop!

    After trying all three of my NEW LCs, today I returned to shaving with an Old Type. Today's Old Type is dated 1918 and was originally nickel-plated, with the plating on the handle still in good shape and the brass showing through all around the edges on the top cap. It also has a bent end tooth, probably from being dropped at some point in its career. The tooth is still in line with the others and the blade edge is covered, so the damage is purely cosmetic and does not affect the shave in any way. The Old Type definitely had more blade feel and was more aggressive than the NEWs I just used, but still gave me a fine smooth shave. My phone insisted on started ringing in the middle of my shave, so I just did "one and done" today. Result was still a high-grade DFS. Alum was a bit sparkly in places but a rinse followed by the balm cooled that off.

    So now I am cleanshaven, cool, refreshed ... and all ready to go visit my dentist to get two teeth fixed... Between that and my cat's vet bills, I expect my planned orders at Fendrihan and Top of the Chain are going to be staying in the carts this month... Oh well, there's always next month, and in the meantime, I'm not likely to run out of soaps and splashes anyway.

    Reef Point scent out a Tweet last night that he is closing up shop after the remaining inventory is sold. Over the years, I have used 3 of his soaps and been impressed. Sad to see but not surprising as artisan soaps come and go.

    A very nice three pass shave this morning. I managed to catch the baby with touch ups along my jawline and buffing my lower neck. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

    Good report on the OT, John. Yes, a little more blade feel, but not the assassin some make it out to be. Glad to hear you have enough software to last a few more months anyway...;)
    Nice photo, Clint. Yes, Artisans do seem to come and go. So many quality products these days, I usually feel bad for the person/people who decide to need to shut a business down, rather than a sadness for any sort of huge loss for our little hobby.

    Thanks, Clint. Yes, I bet Mocha is rapidly becoming a gold-plated dog... So Reef Point is closing? I have a tub of his unscented soap, Integrity I think that one's called. Good stuff. Pity he's closing shop, but artisans do come and go, some because they can't make the business viable and others just because they get tired and want to move on. To be honest, though, I am sorrier about TSD Shop.

    Btw, I just got a package from TSD Shop with some big bottles of aftershave milk - a Lavender to replace my current one when it's done, and new ones of Bay Rum and of Vanilla. Those two smell great! Get them while you can!
