I'm honestly not sure how far I could make it into the year if I dragged out everything in my collection. I'm guessing a couple of months, maybe three, and then I would hit the point where I would be looking for special blades to adapt to old razors or deciding if I dared try shaving with old wedge blades, etc. I think it might be interesting to try though!

A nice warm toned photo again, Jason, and it sounds like a good shave to start your very long day. I have never bought any Elvado products (even though they are made in Canada), because my personal impression is that "meh" sort of describes the entire line -- soaps and splashes both. At least, I have never seen anything in any reviews or even the descriptions to make me think they are going to stand out in any way. Is that balm the only Elvado product you have, or have you tried others?

I think one of the really cool things about this hobby is being able to use items that are a century or more old -- and finding that they still work as well and sometimes even better than newly manufactured ones. That razor of yours is a prime example of this. I also always find myself wondering about the men who used the razor before me -- who were they, what did they do, where were they when they were shaving and what did they think about, etc. Especially with the razors that were either specifically military or were made around the times of the great wars of the last century, but also just generally.

This is my only Elvado product, John, so I really can’t comment on the soaps or creams, etc. To be honest, I grabbed it because it was Uber cheap at a Winners in Vancouver. No harm, no foul.

Oh well, if it was in the Winners bargain bins, then it really doesn't matter if it's as crappy as that Russian shaving cream I just palmed off on Neal @NCoxSTL ... it's still worth buying and trying.

Wow, that’s quite a challenge. I’m not sure I want to since 2/3 of my collection is safety razors. I’ll have to count my straights and see what kind of rotation I could do. I’ll get back to you.

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: vintage Personna Ultra Chrome
    Razor: Schick M1 injector
    Brush: Zenith B02 boar
Soap: Hendrix Classics and Company Barbershop
Post: Witch hazel, Country Club for Men Modern Fougere aftershave

Continuing with the Hendrix Classics soap sample. Attacked it with the Zenith boar and got tons of lather. I really like this soap. It has all the good properties we seek in a soap. Nice product. Terrific results all around. Can't ask for much else.

    Have a great day!
