Had a nice shave last night to put an positive end on a frustrating day. Went out to the lake to winterize the trailer yesterday and had one problem after another. The capper on the day (after discovering mouse signs in the trailer and trying to find out where they came in) was not having the water pump work. We are hooked up to town water there and therefore never need the water pump in the RV. I do, however, need the water pump to get the potable antifreeze through the water lines so that it doesn’t freeze in the winter. There is a seal gone or something, but the pump is working, but didn’t build pressure. I’ll have to drive the 2 hours back out there next weekend with my air compressor to blow the lines out that way. Very frustrating.
Anyway, back to the shave... took a break from OCtober to try out this beautiful Aristocrat, which came with few other razors to try from John @Screwtape, along with an exchange of some software. Finally pulled out the Hendrix sample, which came generously from Pete. Pressed a bit in the bottom of the bowl and loaded more than enough lather. Continued pulling out blades that I only have one tuck or less of for ‘odds and ends’, so out came the PermaSharp.
The shave was a little rushed, as we were going out to a soirée with some of my wife’s musician friends and were running late. Got in two very nice passes with a quick neckline touch up. I love the weight and feel of the Aristocrat’s handle. Results were similar to what I’d expect from other nice Gillette TTOs after two passes. Will spend another day with this beauty tomorrow.
    Have a great afternoon all!

Yet another post from an airport. The good thing about this business trip is I’m going to the home office. I’ll get to have dinner with my Mom and my Sister tonight.

You are bang on about the Injectomatic, John. If you keep the pressure ‘non-existent’, it is not the meatgrinder I thought it was before I knew what I was doing.

Thank you for the nice words about the brushes, Neal. I have enjoyed everything about making them for the 30DC, even if the last one was a result of a bet...lots of regulars on here now who weren’t around here when we did the LE, maybe it is time for a version 2 sometime.
    Safe travels.

I think he’s actually been quite subtle so far, John. I’m waiting for the well-deserved other shoe to drop at some point.

    Razor: Schick G1
    Blade: Personna PTFE (2nd use)
Brush: Ever Ready w/ 24mm Tuxedo knot
    Soap: TOBS Peppermint
    Post Shave: Nivea Sensitive

After the incredible success of yesterday's shave with the Schick, I couldn't really put it back on the shelf! Another 3 passes WTG/ATG/XTG led to my smooth shave yet... So very close to BBS... I did over shave though - my skin is letting me know with a slight burn. Almost no sign of any razor bumps on my neck (a first for me) and a lovely smooth finish. I am not entirely sure that the ATG pass is really offering me much in terms of improving the shave quality (at least not enough to counteract the over shaving feel). The tuxedo brush whips up lather INCREDIBLY well... I am using less product than with the old (crappy) boar and getting more lather (enough for 4 good passes from an almond sized dollop).

    Enjoy your shaves gents.

That's a sweet looking razor, John. I bet it shaves great. Are you going to keep this one and replace it with another razor in the pass-around box?
