:happy096: That was an amazing band performance, Perry. I couldn't get over how seamlessly all the different formations came together. The music was toe-tappin' good! You and the students did a superb job (this must have taken an incredible amount of practice), and now I see why you all won the band contest. Thanks for sharing! :happy088:

I'm glad you made it safely, Neal. Enjoy the time with your family. The weather here is pretty bad too.

You're welcome.....All the crowd sat on that one side of the stadium-was this during a game or just the band performance itself?

Nicely done Perry. Brings back memories from high school. A buddy of mine sent me a video last week reminding me about our trombone section “suicide drills”. Good times.

    Awesome job, Perry!
What do you mean we DO NOT have to watch it? Yes we do. It is what makes us, us.
We care about band students in Alabama, or traffic in Atlanta, or additions in Kansas or cats in Saskatchewan, etc, because these things are important to the people we have grown to care about.
    Keep filming.

Thank you, Randy! Yes, good times. We have some trombone suicide drills as well. Scary, but they practice in order to keep from hitting someone!

You're right, Jason! That is what makes this corner of the interwebs so unique and special. Thank you!

It was just a band contest - no game - and was a huge stadium, so everyone fit on the home side.

Oh it all makes sense now...that question from the PA man..."Is your band ready?" :)

Stay tuned for @BaylorGator's teenage years. It's the story of a young boy with the silver spoon hitting the mean streets of West Palm Beach...hard times causing him to sell his Jason of Beverly Hills shoes for latte money and being forced to take a part-time job as the sous chef at the Four Seasons Palm Beach. More to come. ;)

So, I received the bottom two razors today. The W&B was ready to roll, but the custom razor on the bottom left was a mess and needed to go all the way to back to bevel set to bring back to shave ready, and all the others needed touch ups. Honing, like SR shaving, has recently just “clicked” where I seem to have suddenly crossed over from novice to moderately proficient at both. Still lots of practice remains to get good at it, but I’m happy not to “struggle” with the basic skillset of both.

Unfortunately, our H.S. band director had a Woody Hayes/Bobby Knight type personality. We did well as a band, but were EXPECTED to....or else. Sad.

You have some beautiful straights, Randy. Congrats on your progress with the honing skills. That's quite an accomplishment, IMO.

My understanding is that the whole thing descended into a tragedy to rival Romeo and Juliet when young Lochinvar's intended bride realised that his locks of hair were much longer, thicker, curlier and just all-around nicer than hers ... causing her to do an Ophelia and throw herself into the local slough. Fortunately it was only a foot deep so she survived, but the relationship didn't. He then tried to drown his own sorrows with a massive ice cream binge, but found there wasn't enough ice cream in the neighbourhood to do the job. And the rest, as they say, is history...
