SOTD 10162018 1st use RazoRock WTP Lime Burst.gif With a little behind the scene's PMing, arranged to swap some gear with 30DC Member Nirav @Spock. He's doing OK, but caught some local damage from the recent hurricane. Hope to see him back up and shaving here soon. My part of our trade was a shave soap I've been eyeing. I like citrus scents, own several lime AS's, and haven't been adversely affected by the essential oils. He tried this soap and got the burning some folks report. When I moistened the Italian Artisan made triple milled Shea butter, lanolin, & glycerin puck it softened up and loaded easily. Great lather, though it didn't provide the residual slickness I was hoping for. When I get back to bowl and boar lathering maybe it'll deliver. The scent is light from the tub, but opens up well when applied. Took the RPL for another use in the old NEW and it makes me wonder if I'm really missing anything not having those horrible Sharp Star blades. Three passes, no need for extensive clean ups, DFS achieved. Rinsed and splashed on the Pinaud for a great lime finish. It's rainy and cool here on the South Coast. Hanging with my grandson and the dog. Couldn't ask for a better Tuesday.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Great shave Rick! I found the slickness of the WTP line to be pretty darn good. Maybe you could play around with the water to soap ratio.

Thanks guys. Patience is not one of my strong suits, but I may have answered my own question today. I really haven't enjoyed boar brushes until relatively recently, and I think some of that comes from not having the time and patience to break them in fully. Jason's drydock expedites the process a bit and so today I lathered up the JT Omega and the Stirling Boar hard, and whipped up lather with the goal of brush abuse more than lather production. I achieved both. Came home at lunch and noticed that they are already bending to my will (both literally and figuratively). The boar beatings will continue until I'm satisfied they know who is boss...

In other news, I picked up some T&S West Indies and shaved with it while doing business in the West Indies. I’m not a traditional bay rum fan at all, as I find the bay overpowering, but T&S does a good job of balancing out the bay with citrus. I’ve been debating about picking up some just to broaden my collection (since it is so sparse on soaps), but today I targeted Shannons Grapefruit, Bay and Patchouli soap, which is very similar and really a great scent. Really enjoyable shave, and resolved the matter. No West Indies until the Shannon’s is gone. I’ll probably never finish a tub of anything, anyway.

Thanks Andrew. I'm still working my technique but badger brush / face lathering is getting better.

So you ARE fishing for a CT?

Wow Neal! You look 20 years younger and 20 lbs thinner in that photo! It's amazing what spending time in Kansas, a man makeover, and a new set of duds will do for a guy. You'd be immediately considered a VIP here in the Commonwealth. Stay sharp, my friend.

Now are we still talkin' about razors, or are you describing how @wchnu installs his partial plate? :p

    Razor: Schick G1
    Blade: Personna PTFE (3rd use)
Brush: Ever Ready w/ 24mm Tuxedo knot
    Soap: TOBS Peppermint
    Post Shave: Nivea Sensitive

Another Schick shave... Well and truly binned off the focus now! I just went with 2 passes tonight - my face was still feeling the effects of the over shaving that yielded the two back to back BBS shaves at the weekend. I tried to skimp on the amount of cream (I was trying to see how little I needed with the new brush) and was rewarded with a less than satisfactory shave. I must say though, these injectors are seriously smooth shavers... Not quite as efficient as my trusty OCMM, though. 2 passes does not leave me as smooth as the OCMM does... I'll run this blade to the end of its life, then I'll be back on the OCMM!

Count me in on the Tabac retirement home smell later this evening. It's one of my favorite soaps. I actually like the scent. I've always used the shave sticks, but I may pick up a puck next time around.

I can just picture the kids buying Dad a new shaving kit for Christmas, Dad thanking them profusely for the thoughtful gift, then storing it carefully in a drawer while he continues shaving with his existing trusty razor and brush...

Thanks for reminding me of the hair conditioner trick. I never use it on my own hair so I don't usually ever think of it. I will go buy some and give hair conditioner a shot.

Speaking of burning, part 1 of my "lab experiment" will be this week, with the Tobaco&Leather A.S. following a shave cream. Then later I'll see if that Local Gent soap is a contributor, using that followed by a trusted aftershave(trusted meaning I know it won't burn me. You'll get my "lab reports". :)
