OCtober 2018 - Discuss Open Comb Razors

I think these "fireball" aftershaves/colognes all do what was described by LONG RIFLE SOAPS' tobacco-carrying products: They "slap you in the face, then give you a big hug". I'll be trying the Maggard one again this week, but with a regular shave cream this time, just to see if there's less of a burn than with the Tobacco Lounge(Local Gent)soap. I've been posting about this.

 

Another razor for your consideration, another Cooper, but this time a three piece. It took proprietary blades, but a regular DE blade will seat properly when the head is tightened down. A mild, comfortable shave.

THE Single Ring, as good as it gets with a Gillette 3 piece Open Comb....... Or actually any Gillette razor ever, imo.

Quarter turn on the Ascension SS yields no apparent benefits for me ..one eighth I will stick with hereon.

Tabac Thursday's Shave

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Tabac Shaving Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #47 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Valet VB2 Safety Razor with a Feather FHS-10 SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Tabac AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
