John - When I greet new TSD members I make sure they hear "Opinion, Advice, and Actual Information" will be given in answer to their questions. I don't put on airs like I know it all. Sometimes my Google Fu nets a nugget. Problem is at my age to learn new stuff, I have to delete older data. My hard drive is full, sectors fail and can't be recovered.

Considering the News from Canada, is amazing y'all haven't been hit with a mass amnesia.

Yeah, Canada Post is set to start rotating strikes on Monday. And the number one search query about it is: now that it's legal, if Canada Post goes on strike, how can I get my pot shipped to me?...

Somehow, that question wasn't even on my own personal top 100 list...

I don’t like Sandalwood scents, so if there were other notes, I would have missed them. The consensus seems to be that I didn’t have the cap on right, which would explain the rough shaves.

Thank you. The brush was one of the first 4 or 5 that I made actually, Andrew. It was out at the lake all spring and summer, though.

If you still can’t get the blade to sit right on the post, I’d still consider cutting a sliver off the tab end of the blade.

    Razor - Durham DuBarry
    Blade - durham.jpg (1)
    Pre-shave - Stirling Pre-shave soap
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - Vie Long 12601 (35/65 horse)
    Post - Alum

Inspiration today from @Linuxguile and his use of the Durham Duplex. I have the Duplex, but also the DuBarry, which is the "safety razor" type of Durham. I had actually originally intended to include it in OCtober but forgot about it until I saw the Duplex today. So, since I also have a couple of the Personna blades for the Durham razors, why not?

Knowing that these blades are not exactly the best in the world I added the Stirling pre-shave soap to my routine tonight. I lathered and washed my face leaving the lather on. Then loaded the pony up with Arko and face lathered over the pre-shave soap. That created a super slick version of Arko that I figured I'd need. I was right. I managed two passes to a CCS, but didn't have it in me to go a third pass. These blades work...........mostly.......but even watching angle and staying way up on the cap of this razor I was feeling the tugging and drag all the way. So, for the final pass I grabbed a Tech with Astra SP that is my emergency bail-out razor and finished to a nice DFS in one more pass.

Fun razor to use and I wish I could find some true shave-quality blades for not only this one but the Duplex as well. I can see why people would choose this razor back in the day, though. Despite a sub-standard blade it provided a good finish for what it could do.

    Here comes Friday! Enjoy!!

It is a full hollow grind. I had problems in the past with large full hollow razors flexing during the shave but this one does not flex. It is not the thinnest full hollow but it makes lots of noise during the shave. While I prefer the heavier grinds I do like this razor allot.

I am also bad at scents. All I can tell you is that I like it and so does my wife.
