    Beautiful Milord, Paul!
Excellent shot, Rick! I have a frankensoap that will be on the chopping block soon.
Whats one more tub on the pile ? Plus, you really have to try the duck fat(canard) formula.
I wasn't getting good shaves in 1997, come to think of it I might not have even been shaving then.
Beautiful setup, Keith! Is that an unscented cream ?
    Thank you, Charlie!
Excellent shot, Perry! How many shaves on average do you get from a Stirling sample ?
Stunning composition, Jim! Your really showing off the positive aspects of the MonoBilt!
    Absolutely gorgeous photo, Clint!

It’s a very good boar brush. Zenith makes a lot of different boar brushes with different lofts and handles. Really something for all tastes.

Thank you Joseph. I kept trying Zenith boar brushes. Each time I would give them away and go to a shorter loft. I am happy to say this one will be staying.

    Razor: Gillette New Deluxe Tuckaway
    Blade: Dorco Prime Platinum (1)
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Soap: Der Vergulde Hand
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

Today, I'm back on the OC focus and taking another shot at the New Deluxe that caused such mayhem a week or so ago. Mustering all my skill, keeping a light touch, and riding the cap, I'd love to say that I brought home the baby with no issues. Unfortunately, I can't as I ended up with a couple of persistent weepers on my chin.

This is an interesting razor and probably the most aggressive DE that I'll actually consider picking up and using. It's actually somewhat deceptive in its aggressiveness/efficiency. I think the chin issue has something to do with skin stretching or the lack thereof. It's an area of my face which is prone to mild acne so the skin has a slightly different texture. I suspect that I'm running afoul of the comb design of the New Deluxe not providing enough inherent skin stretching, particularly in the curves between the lower lip and chin. Something to keep in mind the next time I use this razor.

Today I used a razor I don't use very often. Its a frankenrazor. I have a fat handled prewar Tech. In some batch of stuff I got, I had a New SC that didn't have a top plate. I tried the SC baseplate with the Tech cap, and it worked. I love the worn and well used handle on the Tech, so I decided to use it for both. A few months ago, I contacted Frugal Shave to make a case that would hold both baseplates. Most of the time, I grab the Tech baseplate, but it is OCtober. I forgot how smooth this razor is. Its easier to do mild buffing than with the Tech, because it leaves a little bit of lather on the skin. Three passes, and I am BBS. Two weepers on my neck prevented me from calling this one Epic.

This soap and splash combo is one of my favorite scents. Honestly, if I had to go to one soap and splash, I would be very happy with this one. The scent is described as a Western Barbershop. I just looked up the ingredients, and apparently it has sandalwood, which surprises me because my face doesn't react to it. Scent includes Sweet Orange Essential Oil, a hint of Rose, Benzoin Resin, Sandalwood, Desert Brush, Prickly Pear Oil. (Not enabling much here, since this scent is no longer available.)

I recently tried a Tech cap with my spare New SC baseplate and was pleasantly surprised, especially since they are supposedly picky about what caps they work will with (early New caps seem to be a bad idea).

I like the case insert. Am I correct that that is the Altoids-sized case? I have the regular one that Frugal Shave sells, but might have to reach out to them about making one like yours. Thanks for posting that.

Too bad for the weepers John, but it is a big improvement over last time!

True. This was nothing compared to last time. I think I'm getting the feel for this razor and will get it eventually.

Thanks, Andrew! I don't tend to load as much as some of you, so my Stirling samples provide 12-15 shaves generally. This particular sample (Stirling Green) was just a sliver of a full sample, so it won't last as long as the others. I was floored to see you finished off the Vanilla Sandalwood sample in just 8 uses!

I was pretty surprised when I went back and counted how many shaves I had on it. I showed it no mercy when loading.

Thanks, John. I have no idea how to date the New Baseplate. It has patent information, so I'm sure I can figure it out. That is the Altoid sized case. I has a hinged lid, which is nice. He makes a case with blade storage in the second side, so I asked if he could make one to hold two baseplates instead.
    Thanks, Clint!
Thanks, Andrew! I am finding that some soap companies make a lot of scents I like, and some make a lot of scents I don't like. I think the soapmaker's preference on scent is important, and finding one that is compatable with what I like is a great way to find more scents to try. I really want to get a set of PAA Dapper Doc, but need to kill off 10-12 soaps before I can justify getting more.

Hehe! Whateveryou like! I am using the Personna injector blades and like them just fine... I was curious as to longevity because they are a shade more expensive than SE blades!
