John, I appreciate you taking the time to collate all of those posts and provide such a detailed reply! It looks like I'll be keeping my eyes open for another injector at some point in the near future. What would you all say a decent price would be for a PAL in good condition without a box? I don't care about boxes, I buy razors to shave with them!

Really glad you are getting use out of those Astra SP blades! They're even smooth on the first use, aren't they?!

Incidentally, this is both the first photo I have taken with the camera on my new Amazon Fire 8 tablet and the first time I have tried to post a photo here using that tablet. I think it all worked perfectly. From now on, I can put photos in my daily shaves again!

My new brush from Jim @Jayaruh arrived in the mail yesterday afternoon. When I bought the knot for Neal that is now in The Canuck, I bought a big SynBad for myself. Jim had a new style of handle he was showing off, so I asked him to fit the knot into one for me. The result is beautiful. It also represents the true loss of my NB'18. It turned out that the ferrules I bought for my Vlasta T-400 only fit the production brushes and not the prototypes like mine, so I ended up with a refund -- and a still-unbroken NB. However, when ordering the knot to pay off my bet to Neal for breaking my NB, I bought a couple extra for myself -- and thus broke my NB anyway... Well, at least my NB Buster Brush is beautiful...

I have used the razor before, last week I think. It shaves very well even if it is a bit of a frankenrazor. And the soap and balm have both shown up in the majority of my shaves this month.

What was the result? In a word, fabulous. The SynBad knot is soft but very dense with loads of backbone. It actually splays less and covers less of my face than some of my 24mm badger brushes, even though it is now the biggest knot I own since I sold my Kent BK12. It whipped up enough creamy lather in my bowl for my two passes plus half a dozen more. The razor and blade worked smoothly and efficiently to give me a near BBS in two passes. I did discover a small weeper on my chin, but it looks to me like I ran over a cluster of small pimples. The alum, rinse and balm fixed that.

This brush is definitely a keeper. For that matter, so is the razor, the soap and the balm.

They are really excellent blades. Some people call them "beginner blades" but that's nonsense. You could shave with them quite well for an entire lifetime without missing a thing.

I am not the best person to ask about prices because I haven't bought a vintage razor in over a decade. I just don't know what the going rates are anymore. The best person to ask is probably Andrew @Linuxguile. For that matter, I have a PAL Adjustable but wouldn't mind knowing what Injectomatics go for now myself...

Great set up and congrats on the new brush, John. It's a beauty, and it must be a lather monster! I hope all is well.

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: vintage Personna Ultra Chrome
    Razor: Schick L5 'Revere' injector
    Brush: Artisan badger
    Soap: Stirling Green
Post: Witch hazel, RazoRock Blue Barbershop aftershave

Easy shave this morning with this combination. Took some inspiration from @Linuxguile and loaded longer than I normally do, resulting in tons and tons of beautiful lather. I'll continue that process and be done with this sample in no time. All came together quite well with nice results.

I'm planning a detour once this sample is finished - modern Williams. I have the remainder of a puck and I pulled it out last night and deposited it in a mug. I'm going to work on it and finish it off once the Green sample is done. Could be interesting.

    Have a great day!

    Razor: Cooper Monobilt
    Blade: Feather NHS (2)
    Brush: Maseto Finest badger 30mm
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: PAA Will-O'-the-Wisp
    PAA Will-O'-the-Wisp balm
    AS: PAA Will-O'-the-Wisp

    Good morning!

Great shave to start the day! Two pass with touch up, DFS result. Nearly silent alum.

New soap today. PAA's new CK6 formula. This is some slick stuff! I enjoy the scent. It's a somewhat sweet, minty, woody, more complex than I can describe.

I received a sample of the aftershave balm, really nice stuff! No greasy feeling and my face feels soft and nourished.

    Have a great day! [IMG]

Thank you, gentlemen! I am very pleased with this new brush. You're right, Charlie, I think this brush will unseat the Simpsons CH2 Chubby Synthetic as "the soap destroyer".

Also, everything is going well, Charlie. Thanks for asking. My leg is still healing but coming nicely. I'm not running around yet, but only need a cane for light support when walking distances now, which is a lot better than my surgeon thought it might be when he screwed the bits of bone back together five months ago. And I have stayed off ladders since ;).
