Well folks, it appears that the Duke boys signed a deal with the show moonshiners.

Something else that is really cool with them is the case, Randy. I usually don't ever care if I get a case, but the holder for the razor and blade bank are really neat, and the whole body of the case rises and lowers as the lid is opened or closed. The fact that this has lasted for almost a hundred years and still moved freely is amazing to me.

Getting under 100 soaps? Great work. :happy097: Yeah, sorry, couldn't keep a straight face. Nice work with the CJB. Interesting that you put it on the shelf until you developed "sufficient skills" to use it. I did the opposite. The CJB was my first dark side shave. I'm happy to say my first few shaves with it were largely uneventful. We won't bring up the one that left a flap hanging off of my right cheek. A small flap, but a flap all the same. Yep. Never twist the blade when it's sitting on your cheek. That's what I learned. Setdowns are harder with a pain stick than a straight, but the entire shave is a bit more difficult. Those machine honed stainless steel blades offer no forgiveness like hand-honed steel does. Well done and I'm sure you'll have it mastered before you get under 100 on the soap count!

I really like the modern Personnas. I prefer them to Chinese Schicks in the yellow packaging by a wide margin to be honest. I have never used the Prolines, though. I like Vintage PALs and Vintage Schicks too. I have vintage PAL carbon injector blades that are with the cased Injectomatic that are just awful as well.

Mail call today! From the Motherland. Pavlov threw in a couple of extra tucks as a gift, as always. I'm breathing a bit easier now. A solid 1000 Sharp Stars in safe keeping. The shaving world is a safer place today.

Did a slight touch up on the edge of this one before my shave this evening since the last time it was a bit harsh. The end result was a near perfect bbs, the only problem was two weepers due to user error. 31DF45E0-0BD8-4392-B815-9F0E7E248BA7.jpeg

Decided to with my 'prison shank blade' as Randy describes it. A bad set down resulting in cut denied me an epic shave.

Awesome looking combo, Keith. All bedspring shiv jokes aside, is that razor comfortable to handle? The handle seems quite thin on it.

Jason, this the most comfortable razor to strop and shave with out of my collection. The handle is very grippy and razor has some good weight to it.

Razor - Gem Micromatic Open Comb
    Blade - Treet Super Single Edge.jpg (1)
    Soap - D.R. Harris Marlborough
Brush - Stirling Pro Style Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Back to the OCMM for a few days with a Treet Super Carbon blade. Time to go for one of my true "odds and ends" soaps and pull out the D.R. Harris Marlborough stick. I've only used this soap once if memory serves so we'll see how it goes. The OCMM will be as effective and potentially bitey as always.

I wet my face and rubbed the stick all over it. Just got the normal coverage I would from an Arko stick. Shook out the Stirling brush and went to work on a face lather. Almost instant explosion of lather. Very nice feel, seemed to be a lot of lather and the feel was nice and slick as well as protective. First pass felt very good. No drag, no blade feel, just the sound of the carbon doing its thing. Re-lathered for the second pass with no issues at all. Plenty more lather if I needed it. Did my second pass, XTG and then followed with a quick ATG third pass. The OCMM stayed nice and smooth all the way. No issues at all and the finish was BBS and sweet!

I squeezed the brush and got enough lather out to do a couple more passes at least. Nice and slick lather. Definitely lives up to its reputation as being a fine soap.
