Beautiful photos as always, Jamie. Seeing that beautiful Gem w/custom handle flung a cravin' upon me. I'll have to dig out my Damaskeene with mismatched (older) lather catcher handle. Album here: https://imgur.com/a/9d6Q1
That would be what Jayaruh was going for! this is larger - but!! I have seen a ancient one that was wood! and large like the one I have - I am pretty sure it was on a Gem or Ever Ready lather catcher- but I love the one you got - that is a tough find
The C1 gets the nod for tomorrow. I cant remember the last time I used this razor and I used it so infrequently that it feels like im trying it for the first time.

Thur 25th October. Simpsons Chubby 1 / Maggards 24mm-2 Band Tabac Stick Alu General/Claymore Handle Schick Proline [ 3 ] Tabac A/S lotion My second use of a Badger brush. Did not get the Brush too wet today, and it was a really luxurious feeling working up a lather with it on the Face. In fact it was a really nice Shave, smooth and comfortable with a a great close all round finish.

Tabac Thursday's Shave Cold Water Wash Tabac Jayaruh #217 Synthetic MMOC Gem Blue Star CS SE CWR Tabac My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Tabac Shaving Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #217 Synthetic brush. I did two passes with the MMOC Safety Razor with a Gem Blue Star CS SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Tabac AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Had a great shave this morning with the Tabac and the Clog Proof. (though mine isnt as pretty as Jayaruh is. ) Both products are top notch
Man Oh Man! That push button is a sleeper razor. Most dont think it shaves as good as it does. I was fortunate to have one to try out from a member across the street. I am on the lookout for one in decent shape, for a decent price as well.
Fri 26th October Omega 11126 boar Vitos Super Red Schick N3 Schick Twin-Japan [ 7 ] Pitralon Original A/S Lotion That little boar brush is a real workhorse, works so well at producing super abundant lather from any soap or cream, and now has soft tips and feels good on the face. Needless to say I had a very comfortable and effective Shave with the N3/ twin Blade.
SOTD October 26, 2018 Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap Blade: vintage Gillette Platinum Plus Razor: Schick J1 injector Brush: Omega 10049 boar Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave J1 today for a wonderful shave. The Fat is incredible soap and all came together quite well. No complaints. Enjoy your day!
Yeah, the Pushbutton is a great razor. I have it, a Featherweight, and a G-Bar. The G-Bar is my favorite of those three, but they all three work well and are fun to use.
Yes. I bought a cheese grater at the dollar store that's just for grating soaps since I once used the one in the kitchen to my wife's dismay! I grated the soap and then pressed to form into the container. Mitchell's is very hard and it's quite a task to grate it, but well worth the effort.

What is the benefit of grating MWF over just leaving it in hard puck form? I cut the Palmolive into coin-like pieces to press them into a tin, but I only did this in order to facilitate easier/less messy loading.
Not sure there is a benefit other than having the soap fit your container better. The puck isn't a tight fit in the ceramic container. I would guess it lathers the same whether it has been grated or not.
Great, now another razor I have to add to the list. I am going to see if I can find a GBar for a decent price. I suspect it shaves wonderfully.
The G-Bar is great because its heavier than the Pushbutton or Featherweight. Just about anything is heavier than the Featherweight, hence the name. The weight is just right and works wonderfully.
