Thank you Jason. I really can see myself getting another Paladin at some point. Brushes are my real weakness. Razors come and go through the den but most brushes tend to accumulate and multiply. However I do love artist club razors and the new Vector looks to be just the ticket.

There's hope for me yet! I do notice the difference in smoothness when keeping the head of the Schick flat to the face... Interesting that the difference is most profound in this razor (for me, so far anyway)!

Beautiful set up, Clint. The brush is a real looker. Have a fantastic Saturday watching the games, and have an adult beverage for me. :)

Once again, I'm behind on updates. Let's see... Thursday, I wanted to play safe so I went with the Schick L1 Injector and a Japanese Twin. No shave yesterday as I was concerned about some kind of breakout on my cheek. I don't think it was from any of the shaving, probably just some acne or irritation from my CPAP mask.

Today's shave was smooth and effortless, particularly since I took a little extra time on the lather.

I was reading Neal's note about adopting another brush for a "no repeats November" and had a bit of a startling revelation as to how bad my RAD has been. From the looks of it, I could probably do a different razor for each shave and easily make it to the end of the year (assuming that multiples of the same type of razor count as different ones). I'm not sure I actually want to *do* this and would definitely have to plan where to put specific razors (e.g., a run of Gem razors is not going to work for me; I'd need one followed by a day or two of something else). It was sobering, nonetheless. (And I definitely have way too many Techs.)

I purchased two Palmolive shave sticks and one tube of the cream when my Bride and I visited England last year. I think the sticks were 99p and the tube of cream was maybe 2 GBP. The chemist in the small shop I visited thought it was funny that I purchased all three. I left one tube of cream on the shelf for the rest of the town to share until the next shipment arrived. If I ever go back, I'll bring home a suitcase full of Palmolive. It's good stuff, and it makes great gifts for new shavers as well.

Perfectly acceptable to use the same type of razor but a different razor in that type. I wrote down my list for November. It's not with me but let's see if I can recreate the list by memory.

    1. Fatboy
    2. Slim
    3. Black Beauty
    4. Toggle
    5. New LC (Delta Echo)
    6. 1918 Old Type
    7. 1947 Super Speed
    8. 1949 Super Speed
    9. 1959 Super Speed
    10. Aristocrat
    11. Ball Handle Tech
    12. Schick Krona
    13. Van der Hagen (Weishi)
    14. Razorock TTO
    15. New SC Deluxe
    16. OCMM
    17. Clog Pruf
    18. Gem 1912
    19. Gem 1914
    20. Schick
    21. Schick E
    22. CJB Greager pain stick
    23. Kai Captain pain stick
    24. Feather SS pain stick
    25. Soyuz 1
    26. Rapira
    27. Mladost
    28. Consul
    29. Merkur 23c
    30. Edwin Jagger DE89

I have more DE's as well, some duplicates some off brands and el-cheapos. Plus a couple of shavettes, a few straights and a few odds and ends like the Swan. I honestly didn't know if I could go a month with no repeat until I started the list. And started digging into my box 'o' gear. Yeah, surprising how much this original experiment of "saving money" has netted in terms of shiny things.

Heck, for me, the Techs are bad enough. From memory, there's:

4 US Pre-War (one with wartime steel baseplate)
    1 Pre-War Canadian
    1 English Flat Bottom
    2 US wartime Bakelite
    1 US wartime Contract Tech
    1 Post-War Contract Tech
    3 NDC Post-War
    1 English Post-War Aluminum Tech
    1 W2 Post-War
4 Vietnam-era (including one with travel handle)

That's 19 by itself although, admittedly, a number are true beaters and/or flawsome. It appears that every time I pick up a parts lot for something interesting, it comes with most or all of a Tech. :) (Which reminds me, I have another post-war coming with a blade safe that I wanted.)

I only meant that IF I were forced to choose a Desert Island Razor, I wouldn't choose a TTO, because of the opening/closing mechanism. What if it broke? I would be SOL!!!

All this talk about No repeat November had me shaking my head at you guys with that many razors. Out of curiosity I did a quick inventory and to my surprise (or shame) I discovered I could participate with several razors to spare. Funny, I don’t remember buying all of these. :signs002:
I only shave every 3 days or so, so I guess I could go well into the New Year without repeating.

Still on focus, 3rd day with this razor and blade. Pulled out my @clint64 inspired weekend shave. SWMBO was practicing on whichever instrument in the music room, daughter was at a friend’s place, son was outside in the yard shooting hoops and I was able to have a slow, leisurely shave. Awesome scent and lather and I was able to really focus on getting this majestic looking razor dialed in a bit.
Had 3 full passes, but am a little short of fully smooth. This razor is smooth enough, and efficient enough, and plenty enjoyable, but I haven’t yet gotten it to the point where I get automatic BBS shaves like a few of my other vintage OCs. Looking forward to trying, though!
Did have one heart stopping moment during the 3rd pass- I dropped the razor. Clang! Off the edge of the sink. What a bonehead. I rarely, if ever, have that happen. There appears to be no damage and I am thankful for brass and not zamak. Whew. Blade change for Monday, I think.
Finished with an unscented balm for the hope of getting a few more whiffs of one of my favourite scents. What an enjoyable shave.
    Have a great evening all!
