1. Thanks for the tip...I might have gone for the Lime, but the Marrakesh didn't impress. I have a Lime anyway(from RazoRock).

  4. Scalpmaster: Reaction to it
Lightfoot: Doesn't lather worth a darn (And I have NO issues with Williams so how bad does Lightfoot have to be?)
    Arko: Urinal
    Cella: Rancid
Proraso White: Sub par & residue
Cremo: I decided I prefer a soap that lathers
    Col. Conk: Sub par
Through the Fire: Reaction to it
    TOBS: Meh

  5. What's strange is that I like the tallow soaps that she makes for Maggard's

  6. What I look for first in a soap is performance, scent is secondary

Williams -- can get there, but why bother? Result is ok, but not exceptional
Mama Bears -- formulations cause irritation for me.
B&M -- pricier than Stirling and not quite up to its performance. Also entire line has caused irritation issues (They closed the site down at least once to reformulate due to wide-spread irritation).
D.R Harris -- decent, but better performing soaps for less
Classic Shaving -- used it for years around late 90's early 2000's. No interest in going back. It was around before the explosion of internet shaving sites.
Art of Shaving -- got some as a gift. Good performance, but too pricy for me when less expensive options perform better
Proraso -- Used it some after Old Spice was no longer available. At the time it was not easy to find. Preferred it over Williams, but have since moved on
MWF -- I like this soap and used it for many years, but I have others I now prefer and have no plans to repurchase
WCS soaps -- I tried them when they first appeared. Pretty terrible soap, IMO.
Soap Commander -- very good soap, but company was completely non-responsive to some questions I had. Service matters.
  7. Some that perform well, but I don’t think I’d get again-
    Tabac- ‘cause of scent
    Arko-‘cause of scent
    TFS-meh.
Stirling Port au Prince- ‘cause of scent
    Razorock-meh.

    Some that I couldn’t get the lather I want(ed)-
    Prohibition Style
    New Crabtree and Evelyn formula

Some good soaps that just didn’t agree with me-
    Stirling SDM
    Stirling The Lounge
  8. Col Conk
    Razorock
Haslinger-Honey, Sage, Merigold, Seaweed-Outstanding performance, but I didn’t love the scents and Mitchell’s is better value for money ounce for ounce.
    Clubman
    Arko creams (soap is good)
Godrej soap- good soap; bad scent
    TOBS-they cause irritation
Geo F Trumper-they’re great, but I won’t re- buy them
    Tabac-don’t care for the scent
Kiss My Face- great stuff, I just don’t like it enough to re- buy it.

  10. My no-buy list:

    Williams
    Van der Hagen Deluxe

I suspect the water in my home is simply incompatible with these. They are always tough to get decent lather from, and Williams lather goes flat on my face in short order. I can't see farting around with these ever again when VdH Luxury makes perfect lather every single time with a fraction of the effort.

  11. I would have said Local Gent's Tobacco Lounge, but as LG closed out its business, I couldn't buy it again if I WANTED to.
  12. They wouldn't have survived with the sub-par products they offered. No loss to the shaving community.

  14. Well, as I said, I did love their Fields&Streams. In the end, I suppose we can say LG was a company that produced some soaps that worked well, others that did not.
  15. BaumBe Soap...... Love there Cream but there soap wont lather if you tied two brushes to a cake batter mixer....

  16. I've yet to try a soap I didn't care for that I wouldn't buy it again or try to obtain via PIF.

  17. Arko. A very good lathering soap but the scent just reminds me of latrine duty. I PIF my 2 pak years ago.

  18. To me the question should be what soap would you buy again? With all the variety out there and the desire to try new things a soap would have to be really special to justify a repurchase. To me there is only one that hits that mark, Stirling Iced Pineapple!
  19. I'd go along with Andrew and advocate to switch this thread to what would I buy again. Tough to choose here, but at this point it would be Razorock's Aqua Shave Soap.

  20. I didn't buy it but it came with my first lather bowl: Colonel Conk's Almond. I really like the scent but the performance doesn't provide enough slickness or cushion. As a result it doesn't see much if any use.
