Thank you Jason. Fine got very close but with a much stronger scent profile. The C&S scent is subtle.

Nope. It was offered like that in the raffle. My only personal dealings with Delta Echo happened a few months before I won the razor. I sold them two Gillette Slims that I had obtained. But it was the finish on the NEW that convinced me to grab it first in the raffle.

That's where I'm headed Jason. I started as a face latherer using boars. When I tried an Old Spice mug or anything similar they didn't do much for me. The game changer was a wider, more shallow Suribachi bowl. I give some credit to the texture but more to the shape for being able to get my lathers where I wanted them. This Rule I've kept to with one badger brush & face lathering has taught me I can. But acceptable isn't the goal. I want a decadent, well tuned lather every time and that's what bowls do. One more time to finish this month, then I dust off the bowls.

That shiny gold on Jim's @jluc does look good. I decided to stop polishing the raw brass on mine to see how the patina develops. Next step is replating but rather than a better than original gold, I'm thinking nickel. I've seen photos of a couple (Jim @Jayaruh ?) and they look great.

    Blackland Blackbird
    PAA SS Ascension
    GSB(4)
Yaqi Barber Pole (24mm, Frigate Class)
    Stirling Pumpkin Spice
    PAA Will-O-The-Wisp Star Jelly

This morning I did another Blackbird comparison, this time with the PAA SS Ascension. Granted these two razors are not in the same price tier, and probably shouldn't be compared directly. But at the same time they are both modern SS safety razors so why not. In order to make the comparison somewhat fair in terms of efficiency I opened up the Ascension a 1/4 turn. Since it is getting close to Halloween it was time to break out the Pumpkin Spice again. I whipped up a gloriously slick lather in the Dry Dock lather bowl and went to work. I started with the Blackbird on the left side. Now that the blade is starting to dull a little, and with three days of weekend growth the less ridged clamping of the blade was more apparent in the form of some blade chatter on the first pass. The Ascension with its extreme head curvature did not suffer the same affliction and was a bit more comfortable on the first pass. After the first pass all was equalized. There is definitely less blade feel with the Ascension then with the Blackbird but it still has some and it is noticeable. Both sides ended near BBS, which I will attribute to the blades dulling a bit. I finished with an application of the Will-O-The-Wisp Star Jelly sample that I got for free with my ascension. I'm glad I got to experience this scent as a sample and not as a full tub that I ordered because it is not for me. To me it smells like a mixture of incense and bubble gum.:shocked029:The face feel of the Star Jelly is quite nice though and I might consider picking up some in a different scent. Happy Monday my friends!

Razor: 1919 Gillette Thin Cap OT
    Blade: Dorco Prime Platinum
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Soap: Der Vergulde Hand
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

I think this is something like my third shave with the baseplate of this razor, but with different caps. The baseplate came in a parts lot and I was finally able to get a correct thin cap from someone on another forum (handle was from my stash). Thin caps aren't usually my favorites, but I can't complain about today's shave. Close and comfortable with no irritation or other issues.

This month has flown by and it's hard to believe that there are only two days left. Between various no-shave days and other digressions, I actually didn't make it through all the OCs that I wanted to use this month. Lots of decisions for the last two days of the month.

    Razor: PAA Ascension SS
    Blade: Voskhod
    Brush: Ever-Ready 150
    Lather: CO Bigelow

I got busy over the weekend as we had a gumbo/chili cook off at work on Friday for a United Way fund raiser and then various activities around the house, and so I am three days behind on the thread. This morning's shave was great as hopefully, things will get back to normal a bit. CO Bigelow makes for a great Menthol Monday shave. It has really become a favorite of mine. I will definitely be replacing it when it is gone. I hope everyone has a great day!

I am going to have to get a CK6 base soap at some point. It may be a Christmas list item.

I find the Sangre AS sticks around for a while. It's interesting that it dissipates quickly for you. I like it, but I don't know that I will replace it either.

The last step of my morning routine is applying sunscreen to my face. I'm sure that doesn't help matters.

I should also put sun screen on, but I never do. My wife is always on me about that.
