Nice couple of shaves Adam! I've had a razor-lanche or two myself!

 

I haven’t been able to find all the cartel guys for a while. Was doing some research on social media using the #whatstheworstthatcouldhappen tag and found why Yuri isn’t answering his phone. @NCoxSTL, he just ordered a case of straws and 10 cases of medicinal vodka. I think he was looking for time off, but couldn’t understand him very well.

Things have been running too smoothly here at HQ for awhile. I gave the guys some extra time off and apparently they aren't using it very well. I'll send Natalia out to round the crew back up for a bit of "re-education" time.

 

If you visit HQ West here in STL we will happily provide an escort. If you visit HQ Moscow - I'll alert Vlad that you're on your way and I'm sure he'll arrange something nice for you as well. If he offers the "northern tour", though, I'd politely decline.

I am 53 and you're not much older than my oldest. Like Rick I don't act my age which is frustration to my wife and girls.

 

Glad to see you posting Adam. Great collection of razors at the ready. One day you should photograph the entire collection.

Thanks, Clint. I've done way better keeping up with the thread this month than the last few.

I plan on hosting a thread next year that will probably fizzle out in mid February. EDRIO- Every Damn Razor I Own. The concept will be simple. How long into the year can you go without reusing a razor. Knowing I don't shave everyday, I'm thinking I might make it to October or so. I will get some pictures along the way, but I have razors stashed in so many places I don't know if I can get them all together.

 

That will be a thread I follow. With my collection I won’t make it a month.

I traded my only Gem MMOC to James @jtface with absolutely no regrets. Then, while cleaning my box of miscellaneous razors, I discovered another one. This one needed cleaning and afterwards showed lots of brassing. More critically, one of the bladestops is broken off. However, I found that between the remaining bladestop, the oval projection that fills the oval hole in the centre of the blade, and the cap that screws down tightly over the blade, the blade is still held rigidly in the proper position. So today I shaved with this razor.

To give myself the best chance with the MMOC, I opted for the super-slick Stirling mutton tallow soap. I also bowl lathered to give myself better control over the consistency of the lather. The big synthetic brush whipped up a bowl of great yogurty lather, and I was away to the races.

How did I do? I completed one pass with the MMOC with good whisker reduction, no blood, and no pressure errors, but also no enjoyment. After my first pass, I decided enough was enough and enjoyed my second pass using a handy Gillette Old Type. The overall result was DFS with mostly silent alum. I used witch hazel to be sure to remove any lingering irritation, then finished with a hearty splash of Lucky Tiger.

I am glad I found this MMOC so I could try shaving with it again. However, now that I have confirmed I don't like it, I am not sure what to do with the razor. I don't want to keep it in my rotation (or collection) but in its condition I can't ethically sell it or even give it away. Perhaps it's time this one went to metals recycling?
