  3. Great trio of Jayaruh brushes to go along with that beautiful NEW LC, Neal!

  5. I already tried that with my 1912. The blade somehow jumped the one bladestop so the corner of the blade was rotated out past the safety guard. It did indeed give me the closest shave of my life -- two parallel gouges down my left cheek. I looked like I had Heidelberg duelling scars. Fortunately they weren't permanent.
  6. Congrats on today's better shave, Perry. Good luck on the concert, and please keep us posted. It sounds like you have a fun day planned with your students.

  9. @NCoxSTL, this youngster is bucking for a position at London's Cartel HQ. Until he reaches 30, maybe he could be in charge of unloading the Vodka truck?
  10. Gorgeous new brush, Neal! Those handles with the inlaid loops and swirls are real works of art. I read the post on his blog where Jim @Jayaruh showed how he did it, but I still think some sort of magic is involved!

Well, all things considered, getting 20 shaves out of a blade isn't entirely contemptible, but you really must try to be more frugal in the future, Jim! BTW, great photo detail of the head of that razor!

Nice setup. I think Williams always was intended to be a plain soap with other products providing the postshave. It did originate in the era when strong alcoholic splashes were used after an SR shave as a topical disinfectant as much as anything.

    Good luck with the concert!

Gorgeous photo of a beautiful razor!
  11. Thank you, John!

  12. Thank you, John! I agree about Williams. It's price and intended function is to shave with, not treat the skin in any manner. I'm just spoiled by more moisturizing soaps. But with Williams at $1 for the puck, you can't expect too much.
  13. Excellent picture, Perry! I hope the concert goes well for you!

  14. Good first post, Michael. I would suggest stopping after the first pass for a while. Remember to keep the pressure as light as you can and imagine that you are simply removing the lather and not the stubble. In no time, you'll be an experienced shaver and sharing your "war stories" with the best of us.
  15. Thank you, Charlie! It felt like a good shave early in the morning, but I may have missed a few spots.

  20. I've been just riding along and trying to maintain some level of self-control with all the 'age' jokes going back and forth. A big thanks to @NCoxSTL for stating the obvious regarding @wchnu :) I'll only say that (1) my favorite briefcase/overnight bag is about the same age as @jtface, (2) I try to act my IQ and not my age in order to remain young, and (3) is @jtspartan the 30DC shaving daddy?

The @Drygulch razorlanche was awesome. Kudos to @Linuxguile for coining that term.

I almost fell out of my chair when I mistakenly thought that @Michael Bilyard had his first-ever shave with a Gem razor. It's always fun when a new member joins the 30DC, and it will be especially fun to watch the 30DC support Michael on his traditional shaving journey.

@Screwtape, I expect we'll see that OCMM again in your line up. I haven't seen the Triple Dog Dare issued yet, but it remains in the arsenal.

@Bama Samurai, I don't know whether the earth is flat, but have you been to Kansas? It's great to see you posting again.

Did I say that MdC is offering some new LE soaps? Oh yeah, I did...

I've never met @Primotenore in person, but I'd say that anyone who posts in

    Centered
    Bold
    Italic

must be an extrovert. His SOTD descriptions are some of the best, and he must use Turtle Wax on his gear to make it so shiny.

@clint64's gettin' another razor!!!! I can't wait to see the Vector in action. This one's gonna be extra cool.

I have really enjoyed OCtober....post upon post of some of the most beautiful razors I've seen. I have one more shave left on a Voskie in the NEW LC, and then I'm moving on to a '54 Super Speed for November. I'm working off the dregs of the Trumpers Skin Food and the LPL shave soap. I'm committed to using up both products, and I can't wait for them to be gone...

    Happy Tuesday, gentlemen!
