This month I think I'll celebrate NO CLUE NOVember - as in, no clue what gear will get used from day to day. How is this different from any other month? It's not.
I do think I'll focus on the pile of sample soaps and aftershaves that are sitting around. For someone who prefers loading off a puck and face lathering, samples are somewhat of a PITA. There are some great soaps in there, and they will get used. And there are some which haven't seen any use yet, and need to be tried. So there! That's what's goin' down.

Today I busted out the sample of Noble Otter Flying Hide. And, Paul @Paul Turner , I thought of you while I was shaving. Anywhere but this forum that would sound weird. Come to think of it, it STILL sounds creepy. Paul, I know you like the Chiseled Face Midnight Stag scent. For me, Flying Hide is what I hoped Midnight Stag would be. There's leather and tobacco (and other stuff mixed in there). It's a manly scent. But, unlike Midnight Stag, it doesn't make you smell like you worked a shift as a gas station attendant. In other words, Flying Hide has the vibe of Midnight Stag, without being over the top. There will most likely be a full tub ordered along with the matching AS.

The razor today - the Karve ("D" plate). The planets aligned and the shave was spectacular. Stirling Gentleman AS was the logical choice to round out a stellar experience...since I don't have a matching sample of the Flying Hide AS.

Gentlemen, thanks for the kind words. I have the opportunity to know quite a few super-heroes at the children's hospital - the kids and their families, the staff, and my fellow volunteers. Volunteering there has been a lifeline for me in retirement.

It appears that the old Czar has a kinder, gentler side. The joys where my Bride and I volunteer outweigh the sorrows by 1000 fold, Neal. I pray that your daughter has grown into a strong young woman that gives you a hard time every chance she gets.

Both of my daughters grew up with a very smart mouth to match their brains. Not sure where the mouthiness came from. Had to be their mother.

Whew, that's a whole lot of product being used in this shave! Today's head to head features the safety bar version of the Blackbird and the RazoRock Game Changer .84-P. I start the shave with some Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap. I was never a believer in preshave until this. Very lightly mentholated (I don't even notice it anymore) and loaded with Glycerine it helps soften up the whiskers before you shave. I find this particularly useful if I shave without taking a shower first. It is also super slick in itself, I find it a challenge holding on to anything after I apply this stuff. While the preshave sits on my face I load my brush and build my lather. Of course the lather was super shiny, creamy, and goopy because I was using a Stirling soap. I apply the lather to my face directly over the preshave soap and am then ready to go. I begin the shave on my left side with the Blackbird, very similar feel using the SB as the OC. Pick up the GC and take my first stroke on the right side, WOW that's smooth! The contrast is very striking, The BB has quite a bit more blade feel then the GC and even at it's shallowest possible angle still feels aggressive. I continue my next two passes with just the general sense that the BB is the more aggressive of the two razors. During the shave I do start to notice a bit of tingle from the cinnamon oil in the Hot Apple Cider soap, but nothing I can't ignore. I finish the shave and apply the Smolder AS and then follow it up with the Glacial Unscented PSB by Stirling. Upon inspection the BB side was true BBS while the GC side wasn't quite there, DFS+ for sure though. Perhaps some angle adjustments with the GC would allow it to match the efficiency of BB while still maintaining the greater degree of smoothness. Have a great weekend my friends!!

Day two already! Where do the days go?
Mystic Water in "Titanic" mode; together with the Thayer's and the DRH, both of which are sure to expire before the MW.
The Semogue Taj Mistura has probably 12-15 shaves so far. Similar to my former Mistura, the knot doesn't open up
as much as 100% Boars & Badgers, making for a scrubbier feel. I do enjoy the Semogue handle.
Loaded up a serious amount of goopy MW, which I then took directly to the face.
One advantage of Blooming, even a tiny amount, is that the soap hydrates quicker.
With MW, one must be careful not to add water too quickly, as the soap will self-destruct.
The Weishi is the razor that got me back to wet-shaving. It was a little squeaky today, so I gave it a good oiling afterward.
I will say that the feedback from this razor rivals anything else in my den. Yes, it's Zamak; so what?
I will say it again: It's the razor blade that shaves you NOT the razor.
That being said, the Personna 74 once again gave me a great shave.
Finished with the above pictured products and, on a whim, reached for my bottle of Aramis EdC.
Not bad at all.

I’ve been very busy and skipped a shave yesterday. Today is my NOvember debut shave and I’m going to try not to repeat anything this month. Should be fun.

Next up in the No repeat focus is the Arlington with this Stirling Splash sample. I just realized looking at the pic, that the razor, splash sample and vintage blades have all come from @Screwtape. 3 more days on the razor after today (for science!) and then this will make its way back to John.
Went with a full 3 pass shave this morning. After 2 days with this razor, I'd say the 3rd pass makes a big difference. I am basically smooth, and still irritation free. Nice way to start the day.
First use of this splash, and on first impression, I'm a solid 'meh' for scent.
Sadly, I spent an hour or so last night charting my hardware and software. With the addition of these samples from John, I think I can make it through the full month for razors, soaps/creams and post shave products. Looks like it will be a true No Repeat November. This is assuming I miss my usual one day on the weekend and take the same travel razor for my two day trip later next week. Sigh. I have a problem. At least not for brushes (yet).
