    November 4 SOTD:

    Razor: Gillette Aristocrat Jr
    Blade: Rapira PL
    Brush: PAA The Green Ray
    Lather: Stirling Cocoa Forest
    Aftershave: The Veg
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Unscented PSB

Sunday and Veg just seem to go together, even though I don't do it often enough. Two passes, DFS, and some Veg. My day is off to a good start. I hope everyone has a great day!

Wonderful picture, Jim! I don't recall seeing that Stirling scent before. Does it smell as the name suggests?

Thanks Perry. I can shave with a cart and water or sweat with no ill effects. So that should tell you how stupid I had to have been

November 4, 2018- NOthing But Techs

    Razor: L2 (4Q66) Tech/Sterling Tech Mashup
    Blade: 7 o'Clock Permasharp Stainless (4)
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Soap: Der Vergulde Hand
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

No shave yesterday. Today's razor is a bit of a mashup. The L2 baseplate was part of a recent parts lot. I didn't have a suitable cap for it, so I went with the next best thing- the cap and handle from a Chinese Gillette Super Blue Blade razor (a.k.a., Sterling Tech). In the words of a certain Scottish starship engineer, "It fits like a glove, Captain!"

If the handle looks a bit off, it is because I actually cut off the last 1/2 inch or so to fit a travel container. I also inserted a set screw into the end of the hollow handle to add a bit of weight.

The shave? Very close and comfortable.

    RyX DoH!

I see your did like mine and seemed to skip over the gray or silver and go straight to white.

When I first got a Fatip Piccolo I swapped in the top cap and handle from a Muhle R89 Grande. Different threads meant I couldn't just trade handles. The curve of cap and base plate worked well together. It seemed to take the Fatip fangs down a notch. The Fatip cap does not fit on the R89 base plate.

Thanks Jim. I'm glad they aren't two copies of the same person. It's tough enough dealing with their different personalities.
Thanks Charlie. I did. Being a Pawpaw helps keep me young.
Thanks Bruce. I'm proud to claim 1/4 of their genetic heritage. The park designers place many benches in strategic location to make the adults have to get up and walk around as the kids scamper to and fro.
You're welcome Clint, & thank you!
Thanks Randy! I was careful to catch the good stuff, and avoided a selfie.
Thanks Brian! I know you enjoy the time with your grandson. Having them move in has ups & downs, but mostly ups.
Thanks Perry! My daughter was so kind as to wait until the day after my 50th B-day to deliver. Easy to remember the day! :)
I forgot the vacuum sealing part of the process. I wonder how well the scent transfers...
Jim - how does the scent of the P-A-P soap and AS compare? Is the AS good for hours, all day?

I’d be interested to hear your opinion on that TGN Boar, Jim. I had the 24mm TGN Boar and thought it was just ok. I found it quite short lofted and almost too stiff...I was ok with it until I got my Omega ‘49, and then that knot exited stage right soon after that.
Yeesh, sorry about your shave, Clint. At least you get to look at that Brush afterwards...
Do you know the story behind that bayonet, Pete? Very neat.
Very nice pic, Jim. I think that one of the things that make those British Aristocrat Jrs ‘Aristocrats’ is the quality of the finish. They look like a Rocket, but are very nice and shiny. Mine looks about the same as yours.

Next up in ‘No Repeat’ November is the Hendrix sample and the CL splash. I’m not allowing the randomizer to choose combos a la @NCoxSTL , but have mapped out the month with software so that I have some favourites sprinkled throughout. Razors have been mapped too and will all get a chance as well, as soon as I get a few more days in with this loaner.
3rd day using the Supply with the 2 dot plate. I’ve come to the conclusion that this razor is a nice, smooth shaver on the 2 dot plate. However, I wouldn’t call it efficient. There is a huge difference between 2 and 3 passes with it, imho. After 2 passes, quite a bit of stubble feeling left. After 3- pretty darn smooth. Pulled out the rarely seen Alum as a judge of irritation today and had virtually none. Yup, a mild, smooth, pleasant shaver.
Tomorrow I will change the baseplates and go to the 3 dot for a few days. After that, the Injectomatic for a comparison. For Science.
    Have a great day all!

I’ve enjoyed your mix and match Techs (and pics) so far this month, John. Very informative. Didn’t even know there were modern Chinese Gillette Techs, actually.

The scent of the PaP soap and aftershave match. Even with the application of sunscreen over the top I still catch whiffs two or three hours later.

Thank you, Jim. I don't know that Rod has made it in a while. It is a chocolate and pine mix. It sounds odd at first, but it honestly works pretty well. I actually thought it was one of the more complex scents he had made.

Thank you, Jason! I agree, the finish on these razors is top notch. The base plate on these razors is also a bit different that seems to add a some weight to them.

I was going for a stiff knot. I put a tight fitting o-ring around the base of the knot and set the knot as deep as possible. Roughly 47mm free loft. I set it with silicone in case it was too stiff. Not the case at all. My SOC boar and Jayaruh boar are quite a bit stiffer. The tips have already softened noticeably. Paired with the ergonomics of the handle it's been a joy to use.

Love the shadows in your picture, Jason. Great report. I've been looking at the supply razor for a while but haven't been pushed over the edge yet .
