Thanks Randy. I think it was a 200 gram (7 ounce) puck of soap! For the last few weeks, I was also washing my face with it just to use it up. :happy102:

Please don't underestimate your girls, Randy. My behavior is much more immature than any kid you've encountered. Aging is mandatory, but maturing is optional. :happy108:

IMO, it would be a stupid purchase, Randy. Can you please send me the link? :innocent

Holy smokes, 7 oz? I think the only way I could use that up is to use it as a life raft for a couple of months...
    upload_2018-11-4_20-15-33.jpeg
then place it on the hood of my car between a couple of those spinning car wash brushes for a while...

Oh, who am I kidding? I couldn’t finish 7oz of shaving soap if my life depended on it.

That may be true, but how does one avoid getting cuts in the act of shaving over the peanuts?

    You must have one!
Actually, it doesn’t shave any different then my Fat Boy. I like having it because it’s cool looking, but it’s just another Gillette as far as the shave.

    November 4

Razor - "Soyuz 1" Soviet era DE
    Blade - supermax-titanium.jpg
    Soap - Stirling Iced Pineapple
Brush - Stirling Pro Style Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Well, the shaving gods were tricky today. They outdid themselves by sending me the Iced Pineapple soap. And, combining it with the big Stirling synthetic guaranteed enough lather to wash the house. By the way, I'm still on my sample of the Iced Pineapple and I know I have quite a few more shaves out of it than most. And it's still a solid disc. I'm wondering how long my full tub will last, and loving it even more!

As for the rest of the setup? Well, I won't complain about the Super Max Titanium blade. It's a good blade. Sharp, smooth, but not better than my favorites so I don't give it much attention. It's the razor, though, that raised an eyebrow. The gods declared that the Soyuz 1 should come out of hiding and get another run at my face. For those who don't remember this razor, it's a Soviet era DE that is about as wonky as a razor can get. Different gaps - not just on either side but on the same side on different ends. It doesn't lock down without a fight on the blade so alignment is impossible - though the wonky gaps makes aligning a blade a laughable proposition anyway. It's just a perfect example of Soviet engineering - and makes you wonder how in the world they can be the only ones left who can send men to the ISS. The razor isn't really called the Soyuz 1. I gave it that name in honor of the infamous Soyuz 1 that spectacularly failed and killed Cosmonaut Vladimir Komarov. Well, more like annihilated him. Nearly vaporized him, except for a pile of charred ash and one ankle bone they could identify. Fortunately, the Soviets decided to put better engineering into space flight and let the razors suffer the consequences.

Three full passes and I concentrated on two things. Angle and pressure. I rode the cap like a bomb would explode if I got even a hair off angle, and I let the weight of the razor head, which is heavy for its size, do all the work. I managed two passes with no incidents. I didn't manage the third as well as the corner of the blade caught me on an XTG pass on my left neck and left a couple of bloody nicks. Nothing big, but enough to earn its name.

I only have one other "questionable" razor in this month's lineup. The Rapira is still out there. Here's hoping the fickle fates of shaving leave it alone for a few days so I can get over this one.

Have a great Monday and better week!

Interesting mix you ended up with there. And the Fickle Finger of Fate even chose a menthol soap for you for Sunday night/Monday morning ... Menthol Monday. You just picked my own software for me for Monday morning. I have a tub and bottle of Iced Pineapple that arrived a couple weeks ago and that I haven't tried yet. I will break them out in the morning (I skipped shaving today).

Hope your Monday and week are likewise good and today's little Soyuz 1 nick is the only rough spot for the whole week!

Up and moving early on a rainy Monday morning. Fantastic shave to start the work week after yesterday's disaster. Three passes ended in a near perfect shave. No chasing the baby for me this morning. A splash of R4L and I am ready for the morning commute. I hope everyone has a great Monday.

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick Proline
    Razor: RazoRock Black Hawk
    Brush: JR #60 synthetic
    Soap: Soap Commander Vision
Post: Witch hazel, Barbasol Pacific Rush aftershave

I'm going to use Soap Commander through Thursday of this week. Today's choice is Vision. What a scent! Bright, aquatic, and minty - terrific way to brighten up a Monday morning. The Black Hawk did its job in fine style and I added some menthol crystals to the Barbasol to make it even colder (it already packed a good menthol punch). Terrific results in the end.

    Have a great day!
