Who knew that the Soyuz 1 would be good for restoring unity to the Cartel? I'll move it up one slot in my storage box. Make it feel a little better about itself.

Ice cream is never real. It appears to be, but it quickly melts away into nothingness. Donuts, on the other hand, are forever. Just look at my waistline and you'll see the proof.

Thank you for all the info, Charlie! Fine does seem to have a good rep, for both soaps and aftershaves. Generally an aftershave with some hang time is preferable for me, there are some which I have that fade off early - great for days when you want to wear a cologne. The number of soaps outweigh the number of aftershaves in my lineup...more are "needed" for variety. The Platinum sounds more inviting than the L'Orange Noir, but ofttimes scent descriptions fall flat "on paper". Then when you get a chance to smell them, it's nothing like you envisioned. Stirling Bergamot Lavender was that way for me. Based on description, it didn't sound like anything I'd ever like. Once I tried it, my opinion flipped 180 degrees.
Thanks again! A bottle of Fine will be on the wishlist! :)

November 5, 2018- NOthing But Techs

    Razor: US Bakelite Tech/Fat Handle
    Blade: 7 o'Clock Permasharp Stainless (1)
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Soap: Der Vergulde Hand
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

Today, I'm shaving with the first of the three razors that I teased yesterday. A while back, I started to think about what to do with my excess Techs and decided to take inspiration from modern razors that come with a single handle and multiple baseplates. My initial take consists of a W2 post-War Tech baseplate and frosted cap, a pre-War US baseplate, and a US Bakelite baseplate. The handle is the classic Fat Handle. Everything currently resides in a gift card tin with a cardboard insert. My plan is to move to a larger container to accommodate another couple of baseplates (e.g., New SC) and another handle or two.

For today, I am going with the Bakelite Tech, frosted cap and Fat Handle. Bakelite Techs traditionally came with a Bakelite/Plastic handle; these handles have a flat top and are threaded all the way to the top. By comparison, the Fat Handle (like most handles) has a fluted top and is only threaded to the beginning of the flute. This means that there are not as many threads to catch when screwing the razor together. This is not a problem as long as the cap threads are in good shape.

And the shave? The Bakelite Tech is a light but efficient razor; the Indian Green is a sharp blade. The result is another excellent shave with no issues. I'll revisit the Bakelite Tech next week when I use my other one during Remembrance Week.

A small apology, I was dealing with a couple of things this morning and, so, only got to grab a couple of razor shots:

4th day with the Supply, first with the 3 dot plate. Whipped up one of my favourites, both in quality of lather and scent, and had a good two pass shave with a few touch ups. The 3 dot plate looks like there is quite a bit of blade exposure, but it didn't shave as aggressively as it looked. It is definitely more aggressive than the 2 dot, and two passes has me much smoother than 2 passes with that 'regular' base plate. I can feel a little tingle under my chin, but not too bad. I'll go with a full 3 pass shave tomorrow for an 'apples to apples' comparison.
    Have a great day all!

The Dart does look good polished. The underside of the baseplate has visible machine marks but they're shiny machine marks.
