NOVember is NO whatever you want it to be! Apparently.

    November 7

Razor - Gillette 1918 Old Type
    Blade - bic-5-chrome-platinum.jpg
    Soap - Soap Commander Fortitude
Brush - Stirling Two Banded Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Long day today but I made it. Then I got home, went to post this and somehow erased it twice while posting. Sheesh! So, here's a short version. The shaving gods picked well today with the 1918 and the Bic Chrome Platinum. This is, in my opinion, the best non-Russian blade not made in Japan. I haven't used it in so long I had to dig to find my last one for this month. I need to put some more back in the box. I can't survive the mythical shavepocalypse without some Bic CP love.

Fortitude was awesome. Love the scent. Plan to buy the full tub of this one. Had enough lather for several of us tonight. Finish was BBS with one minor nick but the 1918 is allowed one every now and then, if only to live up to its reputation. Kind of like the OCMM.

    Have a great Thursday!

Is this a new acquisition? I have seen this one cropping up quite a bit. It looks a good razor in SS. Which plate are you using?

 Not seen this mentioned in ages!

    The 2013 or 2011 version?

That is fine looking wingman you have there.

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: vintage Personna Ultra Chrome
    Razor: Schick I1
    Brush: Zenith B02 boar
    Soap: Soap Commander Passion
Post: Witch hazel, Country Club for Men Modern Fougere aftershave

Easy and efficient shave this morning. The Soap Commander tubs have been producing wonderfully slick and bountiful lather. The post shave from these soaps is top notch. Easy whisker reduction with the I1 injector. I squeezed out the remaining lather and rubbed it around my face like a balm while rinsing the razor. @clint64 has done that and I stole his idea. Rinse it all away and apply witch hazel and then some outstanding Country Club splash. Terrific all around.

    Have a great day!

Love the vintage vibe of the photo Jim. The filter makes it look like aged print magazine ad.

    November 8th
    Razor: Blackland Vector
    Blade: Feather Professional (1)
    Brush: Envy White Eight Ball
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: PAA Sandalwood
    Thayers Rose witch hazel
    AS: Proraso Lozion

    Good morning!

I'm weak. My No Variance November has become my No Promises November. The recent talk of sandalwood scents and the Envy White knot was just too much.

First shave with the Vector. Smooth shave! Moderate blade feel. I varied the angle and I found a shallow angle felt just a bit smoother to me. The shave was going so well I did a quick ATG touch up in the hollows of my neck, something I have been skipping because it usually leads to trouble. No problem. Zero feedback from the alum. My chin is as smooth as I've ever gotten from any of my razors but I'm noticing my cheeks aren't quite as smooth as usual. I chalk this up to inexperience with the razor. I'm looking forward to getting to know this razor.

    Have a great day! [IMG]

I had a feeling by your posts that you weren't totally swayed towards getting one for yourself. I really like the feel and handling of the razor, more than anything else. Not to enable, but the Karve is a well made tool. It's a way to get a higher-end razor for a reasonable cost. In the end, they're all nothing more than blade holders. It's just a matter of deciding which ones you enjoy using.

Thanks, James! It's not brand new, but new-ish...I bought it a little while back, but it's been sitting on the back burner since I got the Karve and the Supply razors. It was time to get it back out to play, since it's one of my favs to use. The last few days I've used the R4 plate. As for looks, it seems to fall in the love it or hate it categories. Quite industrial in appearance, which isn't for everybody. If you like the looks, heavy razors, and the option of being "adjustable", the Rockwell is a good value. In addition, the warranty is excellent.
