Thanks, Jim! The pic has a little different feel to it with the artificial light. Several failed attempts before this picture. I finally got pocket flashlight out to get some highlights and shadows.

What a difference 24 hours can make!
Today is a "NO" Promises shave.
    "No" to rules!
    "No" to conformity!
    "No" to consistency!
"No" to cookies! Huh? JK, send me the Double-Stuffs!

I received this AS yesterday and naturally HAD to use it today.
ASW is better known by their other corporate name: WSP (Wet Shaving Products)
ASW is a product made especially for another shaving forum owner/vendor.
The Formula-T Tobacco from WSP and the Old Virginia from ASW are NOT the same products.
    The ASW is far superior.

It is also a tallow-based soap, with a tobacco scent that absolutely intoxicating.
Not Tabac; Not PAA Cavendish; and heaven forbid: not Local Shave Gent...:sick007:, but a smooth, rich, deep scent, which has real staying-power.
Whipped up a superlative lather with the Rooney.
Proceeded to have a slick and smooth shave with my beloved :love055: Ranger Tech, loaded with the aging-gracefully Personna 74.
After a splash of Thayer's Medicated Witch Hazel, I finished the experience with the ASW AS.
    Top-Notch all the way around.

Hotel shave this morning. Next up in No Repeat November is the trusty Palmolive stick and the Gentleman. Because...you know. Brought the Ball End Tech and the travel boar for the two day trip, thought it might be overkill on the rotation to bring 2 brushes and 2 razors on a short trip.
Very nice 2+ pass shave this morning with this reliable gear. Off to meetings for the day.
    Have a great day all!

November 8, 2018- NOthing But Techs

    Razor: Pre-War Tech/Post-War frosted cap/Fat Handle
    Blade: 7 o'Clock Permasharp Stainless (3)
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Soap: Stirling Sheep
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

Back again today with the third baseplate in my Ultimate Tech Kit- the US Pre-War. Obviously, today's razor is another complete mashup, combining a pre-War baseplate with a post-War cap. I'm sorry to say, though, that I have no colorful story about the acquisition of this one. It is what it is.

Second shave with the Sheep and I have to admit that I am enjoying this soap. The Tech and Indian Green performed as well as always for another fine shave.

    IMG_0278.jpg IMG_0277.jpg

Coming Up: Next time, I face my least favorite Tech, a post-War British Aluminium Ball-Handle Tech. On Sunday, I start Remembrance Week with the pre-War Canadian Fat Handle and move on to various other military Tech razors.

I think the artisan soap market has been over saturated in the last year or so. I have nothing against people deciding to make soap and trying to make a buck or two, but the number of soap companies just seems way too high. Depending, of course, on the goals of the soap makers. If they're just trying to make a couple bucks off of a hobby then they are probably highly successful at it. If they're trying to make a living - it's getting tough out there due to so many alternatives. I can't even begin to name all of the new artisan soaps that have shown up since I started here around 4 years ago. And it seems like every day when I go through the shaves both here and on SOTD I see soaps that are totally new to me. At some point I think the "soap bubble" will burst and the most successful of the bunch will survive the cleansing of the market that will no doubt take place. Too many artisans can, indeed, create a slippery slope for those trying to earn a living making it.

(No extra charge for the puns and asides)

Great pics and report. Need a colorful story about how you got that one? Let's see........"I awoke to the sound of birds and faint angelic like voices. Suddenly there was a clink on the counter......then another.....and there, reflecting the early morning sunlight, were a pre-war baseplate and post-war cap for a Gillette Tech. I rubbed my eyes, splashed cold water on my face and....yes......they're REAL!! A gift from the shaving gods that must be used to show my gratitude. I, sirs, am a blessed man".

Let me know if it needs editing. We can make it happen!

Nice setup, John! Was there ever any function change in the top caps prior to the techs using the corner posts ?
