Rick, I'd say any character having a first name of either Storm, Hawk, Fox, Ridge, or Blade. I've never been a fan of soap opera characters with ordinary names, but that's just me.

NOVember is NO whatever you want it to be! Apparently.

Razor - Gillette Black Beauty (9)
    Blade - gillette-silver-blue.jpg
    Soap - Truefitt & Hill 1805
    Brush - Semogue 620
    Post - Alum

Apparently, it's time for winter in STL. We have snow on the ground tonight and it's still coming down. Nothing major but this is the earliest snow for this area I can remember in a long time. That apparently excited the shaving gods as they threw out a pretty good random selection tonight. (He said, with a hint of understatement). The Black Beauty adjustable. Any Gillette adjustable is quality. I cranked it open to setting Me for the event because, well, that's what we do. The blade? The venerable Gillette Silver Blue. It's been way too long since I've used the finest from St. Pete. We talk about the Voskhod from Moscow and the Sputnik from St. Pete as being related. Both teflon coated. The Voskie usually wins that match up. Well, the GSB is the real comparable to the

Voskhod. I have pitted them against each other several times and while I usually end up preferring the Voskhod - it isn't by enough to really make a difference. It may even be (gasp) that I just discriminate a bit against the name Gillette. So, for the hardware portion - SOLID. Now for the software. T&H 1805. Old school company with a nicely scented soap that produces a good lather. I need to spend some repeat days on this soap to really find out what I think, but using a soap from a company that's been around since 1805 - that's special. The Semogue 620 is a solid brush in the less expensive yet higher end boar family. So lather wasn't an issue.

Three passes just because. Two passes pretty much had the baby in the house but I tried for a bit thicker lather on the third pass to keep shaving. Not that the lather was bad, just experimenting. Alum was quiet, I smell British and life is good.

    Razor: Schick L5 'Revere'
    Brush: Omega 10049 boar
    Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat

Easy Fat Friday shave this morning. Wonderful lather from The Fat and efficient shaving from the Revere injector. All came together quite well. Not much else to report.

It would be interesting to know, even a roundabout number, how many of "us" there are, at least in the US. While I do agree with you that our numbers are growing, I wonder how long it will last. I have a feeling that for some folks, it's a fad and at some point they'll return to whatever they were using previously. I was able to "recruit" three guys into switching, but even with them, they're not hobby shavers. They stick with the same setup and shave only as often as necessary. To them it's still just another mundane task...maybe a slightly elevated experience, yet still a chore. On the plus side, I have a "recruit in the wings" - A friend of ours has a teenage son who wants to learn. It's just a matter of finding a time when we can get together and have class....

The gods chose well for you...great shave!!

Sounds like a great shave, Perry. And an excellent artistic photo to start us off this morning!

I often do Fat Friday too, but I already used my regular Delta Echo treated Fatboy and my tub of MWF this month so I can't repeat with them today for Fat Friday. Best I will be able to do is a standard Fatboy from my miscellaneous razor box and another tub of TSD lanolin soap for a different "woolfat" soap... Ah the sacrifices one must make to stay "on Focus"...

That's right - such sacrifices we endure to stay true to our thread!

    Thanks for the kind words!
