Friday morning November 9 - Substitute Fat Friday

    IMG_20181109_070945.jpg

Gillette Fatboy on #4 / Rapira Swedish Supersteel (2)
    Jason's non-30DC cypress badger brush
Renaissance Faire style horn quaich lather bowl
    TSD Sandalwood lanolin soap
Alum and TSD Sandalwood milk aftershave

This was the best I could do for Fat Friday while staying true to my No Repeat focus. The soap isn't The Fat but it does have a lanolin base. I chose sandalwood as the scent. I couldn't find my tub of TSD Sandalwood and thought I might have included it in a PIF of some other sandalwood creams. However I found it this morning; when I took my box of soaps out from my bathroom sink cupboard a couple days ago, this tub had fallen out and rolled across the floor until it was half hidden behind the unit.

Good creamy lather with that fine lanolin skin feeling cushioned two easy passes from the bog-standard Fatboy and I am BBS again. The sandalwood milk balm completed the morning ritual. Not my usual Fat Friday but a pretty good imitation...

After reading your post I checked under the bed and between the couch cushions looking for some lost and forgotten gear. No luck.

    RyX DoH!

If the number of unused DE & SE blades of all types could be counted it wouldn't be an accurate representation of actual hobby shavers. Too many Blade Hoarders. I've not read about cartridges being stock piled.

    Razor: Blackland Vector
    Blade: Feather Professional (2)
    Brush: PAA Switchback/TGN boar
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: Stirling Port AU Prince
    Stirling Bergamot Lavender witch hazel
    AS: Stirling Port AU Prince

    Good morning!

Back on focus with the software, continuing with the Vector.

Another Stirling lather and I can see the bottom of the bowl. Still a ways to go.

Plenty of time for this morning's shave so I went with a traditional three pass shave. BBS result and silent alum. Wonderfully smooth razor. I'm still experimenting with the angle. For me, not quite riding the cap but close. Only my second shave with this razor, but wow! Form and function. My wife was asking what I thought of my new razor, I told her it's the sports car of my collection. Early impressions of this beautiful razor.

    Happy Friday!

    Mickey Lee Soapworks "Pantie Dropper"
    Country Club Sweet Water AS

Round two of the showdown between the Blackland Dart and the Muhle R41. I gave the R41 a little bit of a steeper angle and it was able to match the Dart in efficiency today. Blade feel was very similar. I think once you get to a certain point with positive blade exposure all you feel is the naked unguarded edge of the blade on your skin. This is a great reminder to keep the pressure off and just let the sharpness of the blade do the work. When you are truly able to shave with no pressure both razors feel less harsh. Three passes was overkill but I did them anyway because I was enjoying the scent and slickness of MLSW Pantie Dropper so much. I finished with a splash of Country Club Sweet Water that was so kindly sent to me by Perry @PLAla . What a great AS, its too bad that Country Club has closed its doors. Have a great weekend my friends!

    TGIF!!
