Thursday’s shave. English BIRR quarter hollow. Decent shave, but I touched the razor up tonight and will try it again.

This could be like the time I tried to get a new password for my Chiseled Face account. They asked me for my old one, and I tore my hair out thinking "Hey buddy-boy, if I could remember my old one, I wouldn't ask for the new one, riiiiiight? " I mean, after all, I had just clicked on "Forget Your Password?" Well, now I AM beginning to sound like Churchill, @wristwatchb . I hope you're happy.

New brush for tonight. I’ve been an unabashed fan of @Keithmax ’s (and others on here, I know...) Romera handle with the ‘distressed’ top. Before I went to Vancouver, I turned a handle for this new 30mm knot and, as a homage to Romera, took a few hours to mimic the distressed look. Finished it and let it cure while I was gone. Put the knot in last night, and first use tonight for my weekend shave. I haven’t made or owned a ‘Chubby’ handle before, and this is my version. I set the knot quite deep, as I did want the Chubby/Stubby effect. I got a nice chunk of this African Poculi awhile ago. It is often described as Red Zebrawood, and I think that is an apt description.
Next up in the No Repeat rotation is the MonoBilt, SV and Fern. Don’t know how things can get much better, actually. About as good as it gets in two passes. How did the brush do? It is only one day, with one soap, but the knot was awesome. A little less backbone than the tuxedo and every bit as soft. Absolutely fantastic.
I did give myself a few weepers under the chin, and that is the only thing that stopped this from being -as Keith would say- Epic. Life is good.
Have a great Sunday tomorrow all.

Another pic of the brush, I am quite pleased with how it worked out:

N vendors on site, but Truefitt & Hill, Maggards, B&M, OZ sops, AoS, Ewinjagger, and several other vendors sent stuff. It was fun.

NOVember is NO whatever you want it to be! Apparently.

    November 10

    Razor - Soviet Consul
    Blade - feather-yellow-box.jpg
    Soap - Proraso White
Brush - Stirling Pro Style Synthetic
    Post - Alum, Nivea Original

The shaving gods apparently were reading our little thread here today. A few thoughts on Feather's museum and some of their medical blades made the discussion due to @wristwatchb bringing it up and that's the blade that showed up on the top of the randomizer tonight. No worries, it's always good when the Yakuza branch of the Cartel shows up. As for the razor? Well, the gods picked the Soviet Consul adjustable. Fine razor, especially for its origins. I will, of course, crank it wide open to setting Me, which puts it somewhere between a Fatboy on 9 and the Qshave on 1 for gap. The Russian branch of the Cartel is well represented as well.

Brush is the Stirling Pro Style and as it is the second time this month it is out of rotation for the rest of November. Proraso white, the soap for sensitive skin, and one that I have rarely ever used. I like Proraso but just never played with this one much. It always seems like it's a bit different in lather quality from the rest of the pack. But, I got a good lather from it tonight so no worries.

Three full passes and it was smooth sailing all the way. Until the alum. Then the hot spots showed up. As I mentioned, the Consul has plenty of gap and with a fresh Feather in it I was bound to be a bit warm at the finish line. I grabbed the Nivea and cooled things off and all's well that ends well. Baby is in the house, face feels good and that was a fun way to close out the evening.

Hope you had a great Saturday. I'm staying in tonight as I think I've earned a night off. Time to catch up a bit here and just chill and wait for Sunday. Hope it's a good one for you!

    Shave # 2 in November

    Razor
    : Merkur 23C
    Blade: Personna Red
    Preshave:
    Lather: Arko Shave stick
    Brush: Boar
Postshave: Pacific Shaving Company Caffeinated aftershave

I think I might have had my best shave yet! No weepers and my skin feels really good right now. This was my first time trying out Arko. I mashed it into a container and added some JoJoba oil as well as an oil based cologne to change up the smell. Lol...I realize now that I should have let it air out before I attempted to change the smell! Not that the smell bothers me. It's not that bad. Arko is definitely different. Great lather and quite slick..though sometimes it did feel like my face almost felt dry in between reapplication. This was even with my face being wet. Though I can't argue with the results while shaving.

This was also the maiden voyage of the Merkur 23C PIFed to me by @COMPNOR ...This is a great razor. I can see why it's so popular with those starting out! Now that my technique is at least consistent...this razor seems perfect in the sense that it's gentle but still has more than enough exposure to get the hairs easily! This might be my new favorite razor.

There are a lot of Arko lovers here in the 30DC. I agree that it's a little drying after shaving with it, but an Arko stick is cheap and works quite well. Great shave!

Very nice shave! Arko is a true classic. I really don't know why people revile the smell so much. To me it's just a fresh, lemony kind of soap scent but, to each their own. If it was pine scented I'd be the one complaining. You are correct in feeling like it is a bit drying. That may be its biggest weakness but it certainly doesn't make it less effective during the shave.

I have a Merkur 23c that I use almost exclusively for my head shaves. I will sometimes throw in a regular shave with it. It is quite nice. Super results and you're making great progress!
