Nice Remembrance Day setup, Gary. Also liked the photos of the parade.

For a British WW2 era soap, TOBS, Trumpers and DR Harris have all been around since the 19th century, so a traditional offering from any of them would be possible. For that matter, so would MWF. From the late 19th century on, I think the British equivalent of Williams as the common commercial soap that was found everywhere was Pears'. (It's even mentioned in a Rudyard Kipling poem). I think it is still made today but in India now and I am not sure if the shave soap stick version is still made.

According to common wisdom, the FB Techs with the writing below the center line were supposedly from military sets.

There is also a version of the FB New which has posts like and Old Type. I've seen it in a Nickel-plated Brass version and in an all-Zinc(?) version; the latter stamped with the designation "AS&Co" (AutoStrop?) and some kind of Army Ordnance markings. See https://www.badgerandblade.com/forum/threads/is-this-an-british-army-razor.365634/

Oddly, both FB Tech (with writing below the center) and my three-hole FB New came to me in plastic Star razor cases. The whole thing has me wondering what odd drama was going on to get razors into the hands of British soldiers.

Nice set up, Gary. A flat bottom Brit Tech is one of the few razors still on my list.

I know, right? I haven't watched the latest season. When they get to the last two contestants and unveil the blade to be forged at home...
    some weird choices.
A straight razor with associated testing would be great!

The new soap base sounds like a winner, Jim. Love that Floating Head as well!
Great pics of the combo and of the parade, Gary. It looks beautiful there today.
Another very informative ‘Tech’ post, John. You have quite the collection.

Leisurely beard reduction on a cool Sunday afternoon. Tallow and lanolin, citrus, florals, rosemary, amber, and musk whipped up with a Maggard's Sunrise knot. Fully functional Live Blade handle with vintage mechanical 6000 VPM action. Enough lather for four passes that left my neck a little stubbly, but smooth and massaged elsewhere. A sniff of the AV and it has some similar tone of scent, though a bit metallic in comparison.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Thank you Jim! Stahlys were top of the line in their day. They cost ten times what a Gillette DE sold for. I got mine in a lot from an auction. Already knew what it was, but it was obscured in the photos. Got lucky that the mechanical vibration still works & it came in a well care for case.
