Thanks for all the kind words of encouragement, gentlemen!

And Gary, congratulations yourself on having your clothes fit looser! It's a great feeling, isn't it? Btw, it occurred to me that if you were putting together a shaving kit an RAF man might have used in WW2, if he was in the Eastern or Middle Eastern theatre of operations, that Godrej soap would have been a definite possibility for it.

Pretty good now, thanks, Patrick. It was a rough summer and fall. After breaking my right leg in mid-May and needing surgery on it, I spent the next three months on crutches and mostly hobbling between my bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. Not being able to drive was a real crippler. But the leg is healing well. I still can't run, but I can now walk mostly without even a cane except for longer distances when I use one for safety as much as anything. It certainly makes me health conscious now though.

Then at the end of July, my mother who had been in gradually declining health, collapsed at home and died a few days later in hospital. Not unexpected but still painful when it happens. My brother and sister and I are now gradually sorting out her estate.

Otherwise, work and life are much the same as always.

I love following the WWII Remembrance shaves. My Dad served in the Aleutian Islands during WWII. He was the Company Baker and part of three-man machine gun team. Thankfully, he never saw much action, but he had some great stories. He married and had children later in life. My sister and I came along in the 1960s. As you can see, BBS shaves run in the family. :)

my granddad was ground crew RAF in Burma.he spoke very little about it unfortunately ,but he got to revisit there with his company buddies before he passed in the early 2000s. i adored him very much. he used to take me into the legion when i lived in england ,give me a sleeve of draft beer when my parents weren t around, stuff like that.".ere, get that down yer neck before some one see s ya..,and don t tell your mother.." . he was my mothers dad..

i haven t spent a fortune for most items, collector prices for certain razors because of condition and must haves, but the majority no.luckily a lot of vintage british stuff was available in canada during the 40s to 70s, and still some around.as for the creams and soaps, simple is good. splashes are harder to get here because of transport/shipping rules but i have the basic must haves..
