I found the Ikon Tech to be harsh as well. I’ve cut myself worse with other razors but never really trusted them tech.

Thanks for sharing this story. And thank you to the others who have posted as well.

I had a great uncle who served in the Canadian artillery during WW1. He served on the Western Front until he was invalided out after a caisson rolled over his left foot and crushed it. He walked with a limp and used a cane for as long as I knew him and I am sure was often in pain. It ultimately killed him - he died in his early 70s of congestive heart failure. He never complained though. He was one of the truest gentlemen I have ever known: nothing ever seemed to irritate or rile him or cause him to fail in courtesy. It was as though, having survived the trenches, nothing in life had the power to bother him. A couple other WW1 vets I was privileged to know were similar.

My father's oldest brother flew Spitfires with the RCAF in WW2. He was posted to England and was on active duty there with his squadron. However, the squadron was posted into Europe after D-Day to provide advanced air cover, and just before they were scheduled to cross the Channel, my uncle had a bicycle accident during the nightly blackout and broke his leg. When Grandma received his letter about it, Dad said she was practically beside herself with joy. He had never seen a mother happier to hear her son had a broken leg. By the time the injury was healed well enough for my uncle to resume flying, the war was over. My uncle never piloted a plane again once he was out of uniform; he had no desire to fly ever again... He also never spoke of his service or of the friends he lost overseas.

Wednesday November 14 - morning shave, afternoon post

Fatip Grande / Gillette Silver Blue (1)
    30DC LE maple cashmere brush
    Valobra Fougere soap
    Alum and Stirling Barbershop splash

    IMG_20181114_083953_burst_01.jpg

Another good shave today. The Fatip razor is aggressive but smooth. With care, I got to a DFS / near BBS in two passes without any blood or irritation. The Valobra soap has excellent performance as expected of a good tallow soap. The scent is pleasant. I am not sure that Fougere or Fern is anywhere near the top of my list of favourite scents though. I did like the smell of the Stirling Barbershop splash though. It was a generous PIF from @jtspartan.

Glad you like the splash! If the SV Felce Aromatica is any indication, I am apparently a Fougere fan. I think that Valobra Fougere from Connaught is going to be coming my way sooner rather than later.
