Paul, the Jeeves soaps are now 4 ounces. Not sure of his current price but they're not the 7 ounce containers of the past.

Unfortunately I stepped on a pop top and blew out my flip flop.

Unfortunately, Charlie, I worked for a retail drugstore chain. We conducted regular store visits to ensure that marketing and merchandising programs were being implemented correctly and determining if we needed to modify them to make them more effective. I also frequently flew to regional headquarters to make presentations. Yeah, no golf course or super bowl trips in the jets for me.

Mail call today. Well, Amazon delivery call anyway. I'm always looking for new and different products that are also all natural, organic, etc. I ran onto a YouTube video of a soap made in Nablus, on the West Bank in Palestine. Completely handmade, cut, wrapped. Made with olive oil, water and mineral salts from that region. Great video and I had to check about it. Yep, you can get it on ebay no problem. Al-Jamal Soap and it's about $5-$6 per bar but that isn't outlandish if it's any good. I ordered two bars to give it a try. It arrived today so I'll be using it tonight for my after-head-shave shower. A couple of pictures of the soap.

I'm sure you can all read Arabic so this should be no problem. But, to save your heads exploding (Peaches is nearby so it's possible) here's the English translation:

    Al-Jamal Soap
    Olive Oil Soap
    Shower Soap
    Product of
    Ahmad Hasan Al Shakaa
    Nablus-Omar bn Al Khattab St.
    Tel/Fax: 09-2387724

    And unwrapped

    Al-Jamal unwrapped.jpg
The logo in the middle is the camel logo shown on the wrapper. It lacks definition on this bar, but if you watch the video and see how they imprint it you'll understand why. As far as how it will shave? Well, of course, I'll give it a try for that as well. It's not a shaving soap but we'll put it through some paces.

I look forward to hearing how it performs... Particularly skin feel and scent! I ordered the wife some Lavender soap and a bar of Lavender shampoo from The Happy Soap Co. along with my Orange and Lavender shave soap... Of course I'll try it :happy093:

    Razor: Schick G
Blade: Schick Proline B20 (1st use)
Brush: Ever Ready w/ 24mm Tuxedo knot
    Soap: TOBS Peppermint
    Post Shave: Nivea Sensitive

Well now. These blades are S-H-A-R-P! Like sharp sharp. Sharper than a sharp shooter who signs his name with a Sharpie.
Got a very nice near BBS shave with the usual 2.5 passes. They aren't quite as comfortable and smooth as the Personna PTFE blades, but they require less work to get a nice finish. I will need more time with this blade - I am conscious that I was a bit heavy handed and as a result got a weeper on the right side of my chin. I look forward to a bit of a focus with this blade! I see irritation-free BBS shaves in my near future!

    Enjoy your shaves gents!

8 oz at $28.00 comes out to $3.50 per oz. 4 oz at $19.99 is $4.9975 per oz. From a strictly cost perspective the Wm. Neumann is the better deal, however that doesn’t take into consideration shipping costs, or quality of product.

I'm curious if all blades will work well with the Bakelite? The one I tried in that razor pass-around just would not cut very well for me. I was using a Personna Red at the time. Makes me wonder if you need a sharper blade with it.

SOTD 11152018.gif Easy to not repeat gear if it keeps arriving faster that I use it up. A quick dip into an estate sale netted a set of double 9's dominoes and a pair of vintage Old Spice products. The soap is from the defunct Strop Shoppe line and near the end of their run. Using the brush received in a trade from Louis @dustmite it stirred up tallowy goodness. The textured finished injector I got from our John @John Ruschmeyer and it performed as hoped - smooth, no errors & no irritation. Just added to my stash - from Shulton,1985 and discontinued, a citrusy leather AS & cologne. I like to share my scent choices with the grand daughters, but one's in the hospital at the moment. Melody was a real trooper and didn't even kick the ER guy who installed her IV access. Lower abdominal pain that at first a CT scan suggested appendicitis. Good news though, turns out to be a touch of stomach flu.
    Good (close) Shaves Y'all!
