At this rate, you might be moved into your house before I get to try this shower out. :)

I did put a dent in the project this past weekend. I got all the tile, except for the niche installed in the shower itself. But, there is grouting to be done (after all the thinset is cleaned off the tiles), main floor needs tiled, shower door, etc, etc....
Thanks for asking, Charlie! Things still going well with the new house? No hiccups or roadblocks, I hope...

I was curious, so I went on-line and found some photos of the corporate jets that I rode in. The company I worked for ran a shuttle service between the outlying sites and the corporate office. I didn't get many chances to fly on them, but it turned an 8-hour trip into a 1-hour trip when I did. I also got to take a few special flights with outside groups. Those trips were few and far between, but it was always fun. As an engineer, I was always interested in watching the pilots at work in the cockpit. I couldn't find a photo of the very first one I rode, which was a King Air Turbprop. The first jet, a Falcon, was a bit cramped, and it took off like a slingshot. The Gulfstream and especially the Challenger were my favorites.

As an old retired guy, the days of traveling like this are long gone. :)

Whew. Almost caught up again in here. You fellas are a busy lot....

It’s been awhile since I had the chance to snap a quick photo and post...here was the shave this morning. Very enjoyable...and still fairly smooth 12 hours later...

I’ve enjoyed reading all the posts and checking out the awesome photos. It’s so nice to see our little corner of the world so active!
    Have a great evening, gents!

You're making great progress, Bruce, and I would enjoy seeing photos of your finished bathroom project. Tile work takes a great deal of skill, and I respect you for undertaking the project.

Things are going fairly well on the house. The bricklayers were delayed until next week due to the weather, but the inside work is going full steam...HVAC & electrical are underway, with low-voltage wiring (Internet, surround sound, phone, etc.) starting next. I'd say we'll have drywall up in about a month at the rate things are going. I asked for some additional air sealing to be done, and the builder offered to do it himself over the weekend to save me some money. I appreciated him doing that, and I agreed to come over and help him. So I will have a few nickels of sweat equity in the house.

I don't have a picture of the one I rode in, but it was Citation X, which is the fastest private jet you can buy. They had a GPS screen in the main cabin, and at one point I looked it reported the speed as Mach 0.9. That was pretty cool. On the ride home, I had a pretty good view of the cockpit, which was pretty interesting.

That sounds like fun. I wish I was there with you, Jim...all except the part about having to work. If you Google your company name followed by corporate aircraft, I bet you'll find a photo of the plane. Apparently, there are corporate aircraft spotters that publish photos on the web.

    November 15

Razor - Gem Micromatic Open Comb
Blade - Gem Stainless PTFE SE
    Soap - Soap Commander Courage
    Brush - Jayaruh #230
Post - Alum, Styptic, Cold compress, more styptic, toilet paper shreds, shame

Well, when the shaving gods throw you a curve they do it well. Look at the setup above - the OCMM, PTFE blade, Soap Commander, and a Jayaruh bush. What could look any better or easier. If that's the case then why would I summarize this shave in the following way:

    Sweeney_Todd_wpp_by_Hyzave.jpg

Well, here's a hint. If you're going to load a blade into an OCMM, I highly recommend you make sure that the corners of the blade are in place UNDER the corner stops. NOT laying on top of it. Because, you see, when you lock down the cap it will hold the blade in place not allowing it to slide....BUT......the corners are now free to breathe and, oh let's say, slice your ear as you go past it. Oh, and it also allows the entire edge to chatter, which then creates a one inch cut on the other end of the razor because you're too stupid to stop when you felt the nick on your ear.

But, let's assume you DO stop and go "oh my, I'm bleeding....whatever could be amiss?" and figure out why you're a blithering idiot and correct the blade. You then proceed to go XTG on your jawline and raise the angle as you approach your goatee. Know that that does? If you said create a nice bleeder you win the prize! You're smarter than I was, apparently. Boys and girls, that was all on pass one. Pass two ended up being a quick touch up and let's just put the flipping razor away tonight. Clearly, I'm not smart enough to use it.

On the positive side of things, the Al-Jamal soap worked very well in the shower and didn't really even burn the bloody cuts all that bad. Actually has a very nice after-shower skin feel. The scent? Just a strong presence of olive oil that actually fades as it lathers up. I think it's slick enough to try a shave with too. Once the scars heal, at least.

Sorry to hear about the rotten shave, Neal. When the corner on a Gem blade gets loose it can sure create a bloodsoaked mess in a hurry, no question. Is that why you were assigned a soap called Courage?

I'm sorry about the rough shave, Neal. It happens to all of us at some point. Heal quickly, my friend. At least the Al-Jamal soap was a hit.

Prep: Cold water and soapy bloom water
    Blade: GEM PTFE
    Razor: GEM G Bar
    Brush: Omega 10049 boar
    Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave

Wonderful shave this morning with the Fat Friday combo. The G Bar worked really well and this older American Blend is fairly loaded with menthol. It's a nice aftershave. Too bad they went and tinkered with the formula and watered it down. Good thing is I have a few older bottles in stock so I won't run out for the foreseeable future.

Nice and easy. Great way to begin Friday. We are traveling down to Mobile today after work. Tomorrow my wife and I are going to the football game at our alma mater, Southern Miss, mainly to see some former students of mine who are in the band there. One young man is one of the drum majors this year. Hattiesburg is only about two hours from Mobile, so we'll drive up and home in the same day. Then Sunday we are traveling to Orange Beach for four nights, then coming back to Mobile for the rest of the week and next weekend. We always celebrate Thanksgiving there.

    Have a great day!
