Prep: Cold water and soapy bloom water
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: Schick J1
Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic
Soap: Country Club for Men Cahaba Blues
Post: Witch hazel, Jeeves of Hudson Street Tobacco Bay Leaf aftershave

Wonderful shave this morning. No time for a picture. Superb lather - slick and comforting - too bad Country Club has rebranded and is not making shave products. The Tobacco Bay Leaf splash is a very close match in scent to the Cahaba Blues. Very nice all around.

I'll use this combination a good bit over the next week, but I brought The Fat as well as a couple of other splashes to change things up.

    Enjoy your day!

    Razor: Blackland Blackbird SB
    Blade: SuperMax Blue Diamond
    Brush: PAA Switchback/TGN boar
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: Hendrix Classics & Co.
    Lucky Tiger face tonic
    AS: Fine Platinum

    Good morning!

The Blackbird has returned from battle. It was away with Andrew @Linuxguile for some of his razor comparisons. Continuing with my month of Blackland razors the Blackbird was put to use.

Great three pass shave! BBS with just a hint of warmth from the alum on my neck. The Blackbird provides such a wonderful shave.

    Have a great weekend! [IMG]

    Terry,
Riding the cap is an absolute must with the R41. Seriously, hold the handle straight out from your face and drop the handle ever so slightly until you JUST sense the blade. Also, what I really learned in my 30DC with his razor was to pay attention to the razor angle with my eyes. I noticed that my gaze wandered to my skin. Takes practice to focus on the razor and not where you are shaving. I would also recommend keeping your strokes short for the time being. Good luck and consider the 30DC with this challenging razor.

While I really love this soap and truly every time I have completed a shave with it, I am totally satisfied, but:
I AM READY FOR A DIFFERENT SOAP!!!!!
Ok, that's out of my system. :)
The little powerhouse Semogue 620 fits nicely in the Pickwick bowl and loaded a bountiful amount of soap.
I will say that boars, when they are extremely broken in, do lose a considerable amount of backbone.
Birth-year Super-Speed, loaded with a fresh Personna Medical Prep blade made quick work of the
    24 hour growth.
Three passes for a DFS and I finished with the close-to-empty Thayer's.
A couple of generous spritzes of Tom Ford Grey Vetiver EdP and I am
smelling like a French "Lady of the Evening". (I prefer a different term, but I wanted to keep this post G rated)

    Perry @PLAla chants the 30 DC mantra;
TTT (technique trumps tools) *assuming the tools are't defective. Three techniques get stressed - Ride the Cap, Less Pressure, and Skin Stretching. If any of those concepts are foreign to you, please ask!
Those R41's came in two versions. The first year which had some issues, and all the others. Which one do you have? I'll be following your trials, tribulations, and anticipated triumphs as you get this figured out. I'm a sucker for an aggressive DE and this one seems to be discussed quite often.

I used my 30DC LE on the first shave of the month, but would be proud to break my No Repeat NOVember in a show of Solidarity!

Gary - Have you compared that newest selection from Proraso to their older line? Seen a number of the 30 DC occasionally use them, but not much chatter. I'm still filling in the gaps of my Red/Green/White set. Just ordered Red AS lotion last night.

Another wonderful photo and post Joseph. I don't mind using a soap for 1 week at a time. Any more than 7 days and I get bored with it as well.

Another excellent shave this morning. The big boar whipped up the MW Vetiver & Oakmoss. MW is some seriously slick soap with a wonderful post shave feel. Three passes and touch ups ended in a near perfect shave. A splash of Fine Fresh Vetiver and I am off to knock out a few errands before the college football games start.

Very nice looking razor, Gary. Is that a ‘Canadian Rocket’ case that it is in?
Stunning scales on that straight, Paul!
Great pic and a great shave, Jim.
Yes, I think the lack of soap rotation is what kept me from considering a No Variation focus this month. Which is somewhat ironic given that my first few years of wetshaving with carts I would never vary a soap. Just used up a puck and went and got another one. Now I don’t ever use the same soap a few days in a row unless I am travelling.
Interesting scent description...I’m not sure that is the reference Tom Ford was hoping for.:)
Great start to the day, Clint.
You have such an ability to take simple, clean photos and yet make them so original.

I ride the cap on all razors to start the stroke. Some of the older SE razors are a bit different though. I find myself forgeting to put on my glasses on until the end now, but it seems to make no difference anymore, have to stop that. I'll sort out 15 Feathers to do the rule. The head shave will be the well, take a breath kinda thing. I have never used the R41 to shave the gord, so far.
I'll see how it goes, what the deal with me is I saw a razor on one of the post, a Blackland that really looks nice. The owner said it shaves like a R41 only in stainless. My heart sank a little bit. So if I can conquer the R41 it will open up other tools to use.
Well Sunday morning is as good a day to start it.
But I'm getting new razors in that "I haven't used yet, oh!". Guess I can use them as the carrot at the end of the 41 run.
Anyone have an ideal of what the shaving gods consider a good sacrifice.
    I hope it's not blood. ;)
    Wish me luck
