Excellent commentary on mathematicia, which does appear to be a cinch for you. Having said this, let me make these comments:
1)-Ya don't like to brag, but ya went out and did it anyway.
I could go on, but...oh all right, I will.
2)-I wasn't talkin Hendu-how did he get in the mix?
I could go on, but...oh, all right I will.
3)-I've been informed by the man who PIFed me the Jeeves that their company decided to make their BR soaps in just 4 oz. now. We don't have a price on the 4 yet. Makes me wonder if Bill Neumann will do the same to his 8s.
I can't go on, so there it is!!! :)

30 days with the same setup and ensuring that you watch the pressure and ride the cap will straighten things right out. It sure as hell isn't those blades that are tugging! I like Feather blades for my tough beard if using a DE (which I almost never do nowadays)!

    Blackbird vs. Vector please :)

    @Terry This is fantastic advice!

At least the boar brushes are cheap to replace :)

    Vector vs Blackbird?

    Hmm...
I get three pass BBS shaves with either. The Vector is the more nimble of the two and it also feels more forgiving. The Blackbird feels more substantial in hand and there is something satisfying about the extra blade feel. I also have an attachment to the Blackbird. It was my first razor after thirtyish years of cart or electric shaving. It taught me what not to do. Both are wonderful razors and if you can't decide between the two, you could do what I did.[IMG]

I'm sorry about the Friendly soap and the Proline blades, James. Congrats on salvaging the shave, though!

I've tried shave soap from a couple of small artisan soap makers (not the ones you read about on TSD), and my experience is similar. Those pucks get used up at the sink as facial soap. It's hard to beat the tried and true soaps that others are using here. I'm glad you can use the Palmolive shave stick with a clear conscience. :D Seriously, I wouldn't have too many worries about the sustainability practices used by the large multinational companies. They're held to very high standards by their customers, the general public, and independent third party certification groups. In fact, the bar keeps raising....what was acceptable performance just a few years ago is likely not acceptable today. You wouldn't believe the progress I've witnessed in the past century! :happy102:

I just binned one of my Sputnik blades after two shaves for a similar reason as you. I had a handful of weepers on the second shave, and I wasn't about to give it a third try in my DE. I might try one in my Parker SRX shavette to see if performs better in that razor. That's the first Russian blade I've tried that doesn't agree with me. It takes a while to understand your preferences, and I'm glad you're making progress on that. I use Personna Trac II blades in my airline carry-on travel kit, and I find them to be very smooth. I'm not surprised that you like Personna SE blades in your Schick G.

I hope all is well. Have a great weekend!

A nice and relaxed weekend shave earlier today. Next up in the No Repeat rotation is another fave- the prewar Tech. I never get a bad shave with it and today was no exception. I hadn’t used the Tabac in forever, and that is probably a mistake. I don’t enjoy the scent particularly (most of the jokes are not far off the truth), but the lather is top tier, no question. This stick came via the first of Randy’s Shavey Awards. Lots of 30DC LE talk and serendipitously, mine was next up in the rotation.
    Time for a group hug?

3 relaxed passes later and I am very smooth. Finishing with the Reserve Spice never seems to be a bad idea, either.

Have a great rest of your weekend, all!

Thanks, Doug. A bit of a retro shot- The first 6 from the LE. I believe those handles are Rick’s (2), John R’s, Chris M’s, Frank’s (he doesn’t seem to be around much anymore) and Fuzzy’s.

I’ve had similar experiences to Charlie, James. I keep hoping that the local artisans I find will produce soaps that match the more recognized larger artisans or large-scale producers, but usually I end up with more shower soaps. They invariably are well-suited for that purpose, however. :).
My inlaws did get me a local shaving soap last year at Christmas that is at least passable, but it is in a ridiculous 2 1/2 in tub...

I’ve been looking for one, but holding out for a cool LE handle. Unfortunately, @Boojum1 seems to have bought up all the Simpson LE inventory.

As much as I would be all over a 30DC LE #2 Brush, your generosity was ridiculous on the 1st run, and I (and I presume many of the crew) wouldn’t feel right having you repeat that Herculean task. Obviously it’s your call, but maybe if a version 2 were ever released it should be restricted to the “new” regulars who don’t have the V1, or maybe it should require a trade or a donation to your favorite charity or something. Repeating the original offer at any point seems a bit much and is probably just the Molson talking.

Just my 2 cents Terry, but when a blade pulls its usually dull. Maybe try a new one and see.

Nice brush pic Jason. You're going to make me cry .
