    What is this "non re-purchase" that you speak of? Someone here........not re-purchasing something when it runs out? :angry021:Just the effort of trying to wrap my head around that concept caused brain lesions. Surely you mean "immediate re-purchase". Or, even more likely in this group "preemptive pre-purchase ". Oh my. I need to go lay down again for a few minutes.

    Razor: L4 (4Q66) Gillette Tech
    Blade: 7 o'Clock Permasharp Stainless (1)
    Brush: 30DC LE/Pure Badger
    Soap: Stirling Sheep
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

    For today's shave, I went with a Tech from the 4th quarter of 1966. This particular one was my first "Vietnam-era" Tech and was intended to fill a gaping hole between my post-War Techs and "modern" Sterling Tech. It came with what seems to be an Aluminum handle which I assume is original. As a result, it is a light razor, almost as light as the post-War British Aluminium one I have, but more head heavy since the cap and baseplate are likely Zamac.

    In honor of the recent brush discussions, I have brought out my 30DC LE brush for today's shave. The knot I installed is a Pure Badger from Virginia Sheng. It is my second ever badger brush, the first being a very cheap Chinese one which is so floppy that I wonder if it wasn't actually made of cat hair. Lastly, the Stirling Sheep is baaaack for today's shave.

    All in all a great shave. I had a bit of trouble with lather as I hadn't used the Sheep with a Badger before, but nothing serious. I kept a light touch despite the light razor and brought home the baby.

    It was the first DE I used after many many years of cart use. I shaved like I was using a cart. Way too much pressure and bad angle. The results were nicks, weepers and razor burn. I have greatly improved my technique since. Angle, light touch and skin stretching cured my woes.

    I found a local merchant that keeps a small stock of shave goods. Last visit he had several custom handle badger brushes, I forget which brand modern DE razors, some DE blades I like (Feather and Astra SP), and a mish mash of Proraso products. That's where I purchased what I assumed was White AS lotion that it turns out was the Blue. I'd have made the 15 minute drive to get my Red AS, but the lady on the phone said "don't have that one."
    I'd recommend the Green AS lotion if you like the Green soap or C.O.Bigelow cream. Similar menthol and eucalyptus scent with a nice post shave feel .

    I applaud y'alls commitment. Just being a participant in the 30 DC absolves me of the guilt of my flibberdigibbet style.
    The Force guides you to a Zen Shave. Congrats on trying something different and getting not just different but better results.

    That's how I felt about it. The Dollar Store sells empty soap dispensers. They do look professional & classy.
    There's an idea - work it into the second mortgage!

    In high school I went with an after hours field trip group to enjoy a performance of Second City. Can't find the flyer, but I'm sure I saw Rick Moranis perform live.
    After his wife passed from cancer, he took a break that never ended.

    i know what you mean,my big dollar purchases on shave items is over for now..also why i like vintage stuff. a little easier to swallow, i also don t have many duplicate razors i can sell to finance the purchase, but...save a little here and there it might happen,if the other RAD,SAD,BAD s don t claim it first..

    i have the proraso green aftershave , excellent ,as well as the red, wood and spice ,and cypress and vetiver aftershaves/colognes. all are great with the latter 2 the longest lasting. i pair the wood and spice cologne with a spray of Dirty English edt for a lovely woody, leathery scent that lasts the day..

    That's one I've been paying attention to, haven't purchased yet.
    Adam @Drygulch arranged our 30 DC LE Meet up soap & AS through Jeeves of Hudson Street. The scent is a dupe of Parfums de Marley Herod - essentially an Oriental fragrance of wood and spices. One day my daughter applied a cologne that hit many of the same notes. It was a Walmart knockoff of the female version of Dirty English. Much more in my No Collar price range than Herod, or the lower priced Gucci Pour Homme, or the blue collar affordable Juicy Dirty English.

    hello folks, sunday touch up shave.. all this talk about proraso inspired me to use my good stuff ,so here goes.proraso sandalwood preshave,brit 1950 ball end tech,nacet, eveready 150 brush..proraso wood and spice cream,,lovely slick creamy lather,1 pass combination touch up shave, dfs+..no drama but took my time as i shaved with an efficient razor yesterday..cold water rinse,touch of thayers, wood and spice balm to finish. a spray or two of w and s cologne and some oil for the goatee.. i sell like a tree..awesome stuff..hope it makes it to store shelves like the beard oil is here...enjoy your day fello denizens, gary 20181118_093817.jpg 20181118_103520.jpg first use for this shiny brit ball end..

    very cool sight, bookmarked..the dirty english is reformulated and not as strong/long lasting as the original. i have the new version, and it is way cheaper than the original on some fragrance sights..thank you..
