    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy (9)
    Blade - ladas-super-stainless.jpg
    Soap - Stirling Sheep
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
    Post - Alum

Boy when the gods are in a good mood they're in a good mood. The Toggle with Port au Prince soap, Rapira blade and a Jayaruh brush last night. Tonight they hand me the Fatboy, Stirling Sheep, the Wolf and the Ladas stainless Muscovite blade. Good grief. I'm almost embarrassed by the wealth of greatness here. Almost. I'm not going to look a gift setup in the mouth.

The Fatboy, of course, was the winner in the early adjustable sweepstakes by Gillette. The Toggle was first but the design of the Fatboy won out. I'm still looking for a bottom dial fattie that is less than several thousand dollars to try and snap up. The Ladas - fantastic blade and the lather from the silvertip brush and mutton tallow soap was beyond decadent. I see a lot of mutton tallow in my future in December.

Well, it's the eve of Thanksgiving. Hope you all have some relaxing and fruitful plans for your holiday tomorrow here in the U.S. For those of you elsewhere I hope you have some fruitful and productive plans, or hey, if you can get away with relaxing then go for it!

Congrats Paul @Paul Turner ! Looking forward to hearing what you choose.

Thank you Bruce! That video was everything I'd read, plus more. I'll get a better look at the top cap next time I'm using the razor. Putting a mark on the top cap and base plate to ensure consistent assembly will take the question out of using it. My Merkur Futur clone has a similar "do it right" alignment code.

The guy in the video - Aaron Schecter - said he paid $60 for his, but I'm thinking I got mine for $30 or less. It didn't show up in my ebay history and I'm not one to keep last years receipts handy. Either way it was less for the original zamak than the Ikon engineered SS at $130. Is it a miracle blade holder? Nope, but I'm no longer Slant Curious.

    Soap Commander Love
Alum, Thayers Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Blood on Steel

This was yesterday's early morning shave before spending a fun day out with a longtime friend. The Blood on Steel AS was the perfect finish to a nice shave.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    Happy Thansgiving to all!

I need the judges to determine if I may be in violation of the rules. I will get to that later.

    20181122_065203.jpg

First off a wonderfull 3 pass face shave and a 2 pass head shave, oh so nice. I took my time and was rewarded in kind as I am smooth, close and irritation free. I found 1 small blood spot on the chin after I was all finished. So small it was hard to see and a brush with my finger took it away. I like taking a little more time, I get a gentler, much closer shave.
Oh, the cookies thing is a great ideal, even first thing in the morning :).

    Now the problem.
While patting dry my blade it stuck to the top of the cloth like Feather blades do. This morning it flew from the cloth to land unceremoniously on the floor, bink. Needless to say I did not try to catch it. Now I have been using a blade twice but due to possible damage this blade is toast.
I now have to use a new blade breaking the pattern I started.

    Judges??
    ;)

    Thanks
    tp

You're welcome, Rick! My pleasure. I didn't think there would be a difference in the top cap, until I watched the video - however, it makes sense. You got an excellent deal on that little piece of history. Although the concept of a slant seems plausible, I still feel they're a bit gimmicky. Not that they don't shave well, but I don't think the efficiency is any better than a "regular" razor. That's not to say I wouldn't get another one (particularly the Lutz) if the price were low enough.

First off, we know those aren't Cartel cookies. How do we know? Because Cartel cookies aren't real. ;)
Next off....throw the blade in the bin! Don't risk a bad shave because of a "pattern". Besides, blades are cheap.
    Have a Happy Thanksgiving, Terry!

    Razor: Blackland Vector
    Blade: Feather AC Super (5)
    Brush: PAA Switchback/TGN boar
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: Hendrix Classics & Co.
    Lucky Tiger face tonic
    AS: Pinaud Clubman

    Happy Thanksgiving and/or happy Thursday!

Three pass BBS shave. Excellent start to the day!
After all the talk of Clubman yesterday I had to break it out today. I figure it could stand it's own against the hickory coming off the smoker. Garlic and rosemary prime rib on the menu.

    Have a great day! [IMG]
