Thank you. I’m hoping to be able to catch up. New company bought us at work, so I’m not doing much browsing at the office now.

Reno is going Painfully slow. A month ago the contractor told us he wanted to set things up so he could blow the kitchen apart and put it back together quickly, since we are living here. That apparently stalled. Have had four hours of work done on the house this week. Don’t have a kitchen, and everything is just waiting. I know it will be awesome when it is done, but I am ready for it to be done. Our awesome neighbors who are out of town let us use thier house today to do a thanksgiving dinner.

    Razor - Gem 1912
    Blade - gem-stainless-steel-ptfe.jpg
    Soap - El Caballero
Brush - Vie Long 12601 The Pony
    Post - Alum

Well from the looks of some of the pictures on here there were some very nice feasts served today in TSD land. We had ham, sweet potatoes, cranberries and a nice salad here. We decided against the ham and beans and instead just cooked another ham covered in pineapple slices and basted in pineapple juice. Mmmmmmm good. Other than that the day here was just a lazy day of doing a whole lot of nothing. A long retail weekend starts for me in a little under 12 hours. I am beginning to hate these sale weekends more with each one. But....if I can pay a few extra bills....it will be ok. No "second job" for me until Sunday evening while I suffer through the Black Friday event.

As far as the shave tonight - the gods handed me another SE after me totally botching the last attempt at it. I just used the same blade, the Gem PTFE since the last shave was basically a failure due to my stupidity. They didhand me the Oleo Soapworks El Caballero soap. Nice. Bay Rum and cologne scent and it's a very nice soap. The horse brush got called on for its last appearance this month. You do realize, that because of how they have handed out the brush the Marvy brush is still around and waiting for two shaves. Something to "look forward" to.

Three passes and it was a very nice shave. The Pony did a great job of loading and producing a fine lather and the Gem and PTFE blade were smooth, noisy and quite effective. I did three full passes just because and was rewarded with BBS. Nice finish to a holiday.

I just want to say that of all the things I'm thankful for this year (continued decent health, great wife, you know, the usual) I'm also thankful that this group has grown again this year. I'm looking forward to a good finish to the month and can't wait for Decadent December to get rolling. It's become a really great way to end another year and roll into the next. And....speaking of next......meet up next Summer.....who's ready to start planning?!

Have a great rest of your weekend!! OH - by the way - it wasn't until I took this photo that I realized there's a guy in a suit on this soap. Man I'm getting old.

I went and saw the sale price. If Stirling doesn't take too much of my money tomorrow I may have to pick one up too.

Gillette post-War fathandled Tech / Sharp Star (2)
    Alluminati Envy White badger brush
Renaissance Faire style horn quaich lather bowl
    TOBS Avocado cream
    B&M Reserve Fern splash

    IMG_20181122_200718_kindlephoto-96109115.jpg

Today I joined @John Ruschmeyer in shaving with a gold Tech. Mine is an NDC model with oval slots and the full word Package inscribed on the inside of the baseplate. If I understood John correctly, that makes it a 1950 date.

Today was set for a great shave. The TOBS Avocado cream was my first really good shave product. The Alluminati was my first good badger brush. A Tech is a mild but efficient razor that always delivers. And the Sharp Star is a fine Russian blade.

So why did I suffer through such a crappy shave today? Two passes of non-stop tugging culminating in a barely acceptable CCS. After looking at the possibilities, I think I got a dud blade. I binned it. And I will try a different Sharp Star tomorrow.

At least the splash provided a nice finish.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving (those celebrating it at least).

I'm reaching max capacity with soaps and aftershaves but razors don't take up too much room.

Why does "The Money Pit" suddenly pop into my head? Hang in there! And any company that frowns on you using their computers to browse all you want - isn't a company I want to work for. Just saying. :happy088:

That is really awesome of them, reminds me of the couple who lived across the hall from me during my single days. I would come home from work every day to find a post it of what they made for dinner and that they had a plate saved for me. Best neighbors anyone could ask for.

Thanks :) You're collection is pretty impressive!

Thank you! It certainly does seem to be a robust bit of kit. There are only some very light scratches on the top cap, and some TINY dings on the edges of the top cap that you can see due to the resolution of the photographs. I am tempted to get some metal polish to buff out the scratches, but don't want to compromise the longevity of the razor for the sake of a very minor cosmetic improvement.

I too have been very much inspired by @John Ruschmeyer and @brit of late, hence busting out my Tech earlier!
Your gold Tech is absolutely stunning John, like really beautiful!
Sorry about the rough shave... There's always tomorrow!
