    Screwtape A Shaving Butterfly

    Friday evening November 23

Gillette gold ball end NDC Tech / Sharp Star (1)
Supply Co Silvertip Fibre synthetic brush
Supply Co tallow soap (now called Sierra Ridge)
Supply Co postshave balm (now called Sierra Ridge)

    IMG_20181123_193633_kindlephoto-150393661.jpg

Much better shave tonight. Two passes to a near DFS with no irritation. This Tech says "Package" rather than "pkg" on the base plate so it is ca. 1950. The razor felt mild and the new blade was both sharp and smooth. I am now certain my first Sharp Star was a dud.

When I bought this soap and splash, it was the only scent Supply Co offered and had no name. Now this one is called Sierra Ridge. They now offer three scents, I have all three, and I like them all. Their soap or cream is a quality tallow product and the balm is also made with good ingredients. I always enjoy a good shave experience when my Supply Co products come up in the rotation.

NOVember is NO whatever you want it to be! Apparently.

    Razor - CJB Greager
    Blade - artist-club-small-professional-blades.jpg
    Soap - Stirling Ben Franklin
    Brush - Jayaruh #230
    Post - Alum

The gods have decreed it's a pain stick night. That's fine by me. It's the CJB Greager. Basically a South Korean clone of the Feather DX. No lip on this one like the Feather SS has. Just a smooth angle from the top of the blade holder to the edge of the blade. This is my second CJB. I won the first in a PIF way back in March 2015 from @Keithmax . Had no idea what a CJB was. Didn't look it up before winning it. Looked it up as it was coming over from Korea and about passed out. Wicked looking thing, at least back then. He sent the razor and some Feather Pro blades. I took a month for a rule and, with only a few slices, dices, filets, and other assorted bloody messes, learned to love this style razor. Alas, the first one broke (the notorious spring on that first model) but I acquired the CJB 2.0, otherwise known as the Greager with a Feather style spring. No worries now. It looks and shaves just like its first version. Gotta love it. AND.....the price is far below the Feather DX and even the SS. Want to learn pain sticks? I'd recommend the CJB as a starter.

The rest of the setup - the Feather Pro blade, probably the standard for AC shaving, and the JR230 with Stirling Ben Franklin. Not a huge fan of the scent. Huge fan of the lather. Two passes and touch ups and a DFS was found to be lurking. No cuts, other issues, and the alum was silent. A great shave with a really fun little razor.

    RyX DoH!

    NOVember; running out of options...

    Stirling Coniferous SS
    Caswell-Massey Pure Badger
    Osaka Suribachi bowl
    Schick Type-E, Chick blade
    Stirling Coniferous AS
SOTD 11232018.gif Dug deep in the cabinet and found a tiny sample bottle of AS splash I thought I recalled. Matching scent for the one dose left in the bottle, but plenty of soap in the tub. Wasn't sure about pine scented products but now it's hours after my shave and I'm enjoying the occasional bit of deep woods tree smell. The soap tried to resist my efforts at loading. Tiny little travel brush doesn't have much backbone. Despite it's diminutive size, two doses of water on the puck took care of that. One of you Details Guys might have already told me which E type I used. It's got the tabs on the spring like it's meant to be opened. Being an earlier model it gives a close shave with little effort. No errors and a nice clean lower neck happened. I pulled the plastic insert out of the AS sample bottle to get the last drops out. It doesn't smell like Pine-Sol.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

    Bama Samurai with Laser-like Focus

Found this on that monpolitistic website for US$29.50, shipped. Way more economical (400ml v 100ml) than the regular $14 size.

I did not shop on Black Friday but I did get a major haul in the mail. I received this gorgeous razor from Edward Brice @Edward Brice , a custom he made for me. This is definitely a pimp stick, rubies in the spine plus some very cool scales. I included a couple of his pics since they are better. This is one awesome looking razor.

For those who believe that Feather DE are sharper than a straight razor can be.... think again, this baby came extra sharp but still very smooth. In honor of the new arrival I used my favorite brush. The only blood on steel was the soap and AS, it was an epic shave.

I also picked up a cool 'cigar pipe' that Edward makes, I will give it a try soon.

    Irritation A+ Closeness A+ Smoothness A+ Sharpness A++

    Razor: Edward Brice
    Strop: Mastro Livi
Brush: Handle by Jason with Shavemac knot
    Pre: Proraso
    Soap: Blood on Steel
AS: Blood on Steel AS, L’Occitane ASB

    Razor: Supply Co.3 dot plate
    Blade: Personna Injector (1)
    Brush: PAA Switchback/TGN boar
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: Hendrix Classics & Co.
    Stirling mentholated witch hazel
    AS: Proraso

    Good morning!

First shave with the Supply razor. Feeling confident and cocky with my wet shaving skills I chose the 3 dot plate for the first outing. My usual three pass shave yielded near BBS result. Under my chin is where I missed the baby. The shave itself wasn't very smooth, kinda harsh to be honest. There was some feedback from the alum, nothing hot but a little warm in spots. I'll try the 2 dot plate next.

    Have a great Saturday! [IMG]

Last Christmas, my Dad gave me what he said was the last brush handle he planned on ever making. It is made from a beautiful piece of Amboyna (the wood they use on the inside of Rolls Royce automobiles), and I’ve been looking for the perfect knot for it for almost a year. The favorite knot in my collection is a two band Thater, but you have to buy the whole brush, and they ain’t cheap. So... after finally finding one on a BST, I finally broke the knot loose of its old handle and voila!
