Broke out my Simpson Polo 12, it is a huge brush, I alternate hands just to keep the muscle development even. This were going great but I must have been hold the razor to light and it rolled on me giving me a nice cut. This will be embarrassing for a week :angry032:

For all of you Tech gurus out there... Why do they call it a Flat Bottom Tech?

Is it because of the base plate, or because of the bottom of the handle?

i believe it comes from the references to the different british NEW razors as there was a flat bottom and a raised flat bottom new or rfb new.the rfb tech is the tech hybrid but its not called that..of course i could be off by a country mile..

I was up late last night, so I'm moving slow this morning. However, the curiosity is getting to me. I might shave with Hoss Cartwright this morning even though it's not needed. Just the mug, though. Not the gourd. We already have two bald is beautiful guys here - @Terry and @NCoxSTL .:)

I've been attempting to read up on all these British Gillette's... It's confusing to say the least!

Sorry about the cut Keith. At least it happened with a gorgeous razor.

It was a late night and an early morning here as well. Managed to get Maya fed and packed up for the return drive to Lexington. No way, I am shaving my gourd. I saw how many bumps and scars I have on my scalp during basic training.

    November 25th
    Razor: Supply Co.2 dot plate
    Blade: Personna Injector (2)
    Brush: PAA Switchback/TGN boar
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: Hendrix Classics & Co.
    Stirling mentholated witch hazel
    AS: Proraso

    Good morning!

Great shave to start the day! Three pass and I caught the baby. Smooth effortless shave with just a tickle from the alum on my neck. I was comfortable enough today to j-hook under my chin which I didn't do yesterday due to the harshness of the shave. I can't say for sure if the transformation of the razor is the swap in plates, the blade smoothing out, or just the bit of experience I gained from yesterday's shave. Possibly all of the above.

The TGN boar has broken in nicely. It was a shedder at first, losing a hair or two with most shaves but hasn't lost any this week.

The Hendrix Classics & Co sample has been producing some great lathers. Probably a couple of shaves left before it's gone. A soap I'll consider for a full size purchase.

    Have a great Sunday, gentlemen!

    November 25

Muhle R41 (2013) head & SS Big Bomber handle
    Feather (1)
30 DC LE figured maple handle with 24 mm APShaveCo Tuxedo knot
    Soap Commander Love
Alum, Thayers Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Alt Innsbruck

At 5.75 ounces, this is the heaviest blade razor I've ever used. As such, I nicknamed it Hoss Cartwright. I approached this morning's shave with caution, thinking the handle-heaviness of the razor combined with the R41 head and Feather blade would make for a challenging shave. I was pleasantly surprised. Because of the extra weight, I tried to focus more on using the correct blade angle, very little pressure, and good skin stretching. The size and texture of the handle actually made the razor a pleasure to use. I had one very small sit down error under my nose and three tiny weepers on my neck, so I have work to do in order to dial in this razor. This will be fun.

The LE brush whipped a nice Soap Commander lather. Aside from the good looks, the ergonomics of the LE handle is just about perfect. I'm not a huge fan of synthetic knots, but the Tuxedo knot beats the others I've used by a country mile. I finished up with a nice splash of Alt Innsbruck. I would consider this somewhere between a cologne and an aftershave...with a wonderful tobacco and menthol scent. Very little tingle confirmed my overall good result.

    Have a great day, gents.

Yup, my first injector. The Vector is my first Artist Club and the Sabre will be my first Gem. Hopefully this will be the end of the SE rabbit hole.
