With my luck that would not surprise me at all. :D

I did break down and order an Alpha Shaving 400 replica handle from Etsy while it was on sale. Just couldn't help myself.

Congrats Clint! What knot are you planning to install in the handle?

It came with 1 handle, 2 ferrules and silver tip badger knot @24mm. I will use the handle with the supplied knot to start while deciding. I really like the mixed boar/badger knot in the Semogue but I am not sure where to secure just the knot.

Maggards has a 70/30 badger, boar. I have that knot in my Montalvo brush. I like that knot a lot.

Thank you Jim. I just checked on that knot and it looks very nice. How would you compare it to your Semogue Taj mixed brush? I noticed AP Shave Co has a Luxury mixed knot as well.

I find them very similar as far as face feel and backbone. The Maggards knot visually looks a bit more dense. I considered it for the PAA Switchback handle but since I already have one I decided against it and went with TGN knots instead. Now I have to go look at the AP Shave Co knot.

Thank you. The Maggard knot might be just the one then. I like the price.

Try to keep an open mind. I know that in Perry's case, he felt it wasn't anything like his "normal" injectors, mostly due to the angle. It's a milder razor than you typically use. It does seem to be a "love it or hate it" razor. Although I like the Schick injectors I have, I enjoy using the Supply much more.
From what I gathered from this morning, the Proline blades seem sharper than the Personnas. Every bit as smooth, if not smoother.
If you use it right away, you have more time to play with it, just in case you end up sending it back. I hope you enjoy using it, but it's nice that you can return it if it's not your cup of tea.

I think you are right on trying it sooner rather than later. I don't mind "mild" but I do want something efficient. My thought was the Proline blades would be very similar to the Feathers I use in the artist club razors. If so mild can still be efficient and fun to use. Maybe the Supply will be on deck for Tuesday morning.

I’ve never used a razor with an AC blade, so I have no idea if they’re in the same ballpark or not. Would be interested in hearing how similar the feel and sharpness compare. Maybe someone who’s used both can chime in with their thoughts? Paging Andrew @Linuxguile ...

The crazy sandalwood is a really nice soap, nice comfortable post shave feel.

Didn't shave today but felt I needed to post this . I was informed today I was the winning bid in a charity auction for this kit. Never used this stuff before but seen the brushes around in pics and Fuzzy has the mug. Just wanted to share. 20181125_232634.jpg

It is a floral scent. Lilac and Figs is how it is described, but I also get some spice, lavender, and a bit of amber I think. Most would call it a summer scent. The fact that my wife likes it tells me there is no patchouli, vanilla, sandalwood, musk, and the lavender is very light, (if it is actually in there.)

I normally don’t shave two days in a row but since I honed this one yesterday I couldn’t wait another day. Had a nice uneventful two pass shave. The blade cut through the light growth with ease. 6FA38F43-719F-4E49-B656-BB4E67B8DF7B.jpeg

If you like floral scents, is Dama de Noche is amazing. Night blooming Jasmine. His aftershave balm is underrated as well, once you put it into a better container.

Well, I have been the very definition of slack this month as it comes to checking in, catching up or sharing.

I am on the tail end of a no-buy year as I seek to whittle down the vast stockpile of soaps I have amassed. It is proving to be a monumental task. Soaps are like Mogwai - they seem to multiply when they get wet. I've knocked out a couple of soaps as I plod painstakingly towards and more minimalistic methodology, but man...some of them just do not reduce not matter how furiously and copiously I use them.

Whilst digging through my stash, I came upon one unopened soap: one of two pucks of (modern) Williams that I got at my local drugstore for a dollar or so each right after starting my wet shave journey and tossed in a cabinet after an ill-fated experiment that resulted in the first puck becoming a (pretty good) shower soap.

Well, as it turns out, I can now get a pretty darn decent shave with Williams, my 30DC brush, a cheap QShave Futur clone and a bottle of Jovan Musk aftershave.

No, it isn't "top tier". But if I don't dawdle and let it dissipate, I get slickness that actually surprised me. And the scent reminds me of Ivory soap. Not bad if I plan to wear a cologne that day. And perhaps most surprisingly, the post shave feel isn't half bad. No messy film left behind, just a nice, clean, fairly soft face. It ain't fancy, but it will certainly get the job done.
