Me too. Speaking of which, I'm starting to sort for my EDRIO (Every Damn Razor I Own) project. I may have more than I thought.

Not sure if it will help or not, but that is an impressive order. I ordered two sets of the black Friday specials for me, two soap only for my secret santa, a synthetic brush for him, a boar for me, and a couple of shampoo bars. Made free shipping by 84 cents.

Thanks for the response Charlie. We chose to skip the current Boise Broadway series because we have already seen all the plays for the season. We hadn't thought about Shakespeare as I have to admit I've never sat through one of his plays. I just did some research and we have a summer Shakespeare series that usually includes a non-Shakespeare play or two as well. It might be fun. I'll discuss it with my wife. Thank you for the great suggestion!

SOTD 11252018.gif Stopped by a local shop to pick up a bottle of Thayers for one of my grand daughters. The visit reminded me I'd purchased the shave cream from them. A couple of pumps from the big bottle (as compared to the current smaller ones they stock) and some agitation whipped up plenty of quite serviceable lather. I think this may be the first time I've used this old brush. They were made between '57 & '73. This one has a very early attempt at synthetic bristles. Pretty much fishing line formed into a brush knot. It does hold water & makes lather, but it borders on floppy. The injector got on my shopping list after a pass around here at TSD. During a raffle here it was one of my list of Hope I get drawn items. Easy choice & a good shaver set at 6 of 8. Even came with a beautiful case. Between the soft & hardware three passes, and a little fiddling I got a very close smooth reduction. After rinsing, a couple shots of Tom's special brew - an EO blend from a shop in California plus his added ingredients. Not a normal finish for me, I tried the Thayers. Pleasant scent as compared to WH straight up.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Thanks for the shout out! Parker SRX is a well done tool. It's probably easier to use than a Magic due to it's heavier weight.

    Razor - New SC Deluxe
    Blade - lord-platinum.jpg
Soap - Blood on Steel by Jeeves
    Brush - Omega 10066
    Post - Alum

Well the long weekend is over. Now only three days till my actual weekend. I'll be laying off some of my second job activity this week just to take a bit of time to chill out. We had a bit of winter show up tonight while I was out delivering so I had some fun. Nothing bad, just high winds, blowing snow that wasn't really sticking. Oh, did I mention the tornado warning around 5pm this afternoon for the STL area? Yeah, it's crazy around here like that.

Late night shave with the haunted New SC Deluxe. He seemed happy to see me. Paired him, well the gods did, with the Lord Platinum. Not a top tier blade in my opinion but not a bottom tier either. It works. That's what they should do. Not the sharpest, not the smoothest but I did manage to go three passes and get the baby by using some pretty steep Gillette Slides. Paid the price with a bit of warm alum but that's ok. Had to see what I could do with this blade as it's been awhile since I trialed it.

Blood on Steel with the small Omega boar was perfection. A lesser soap would have made me even hotter with the alum. Monday has arrived and the Thanksgiving weekend is behind us. Now to survive the rush to Christmas and we can finally put the holidays to bed. Have a great start to your week!

Do you find the Gillette slide to be more effective on certain areas? The neck perhaps with its multi-directional growth? It's a technique I'm yet to experiment with!

Yes, actually. I use it almost exclusively on my neck because that is my most difficult area. I also will do what I call an "x-cross" on my neck where I shave diagonally (without a slide) from both directions across my neck. That is a bit less likely to cut than a G-slide but more effective for me than trying just the standard three directions. I have used the G-slide on my face as well and it's quite effective. But I can generally get my face done without having to slide.

That sounds like fun, Brian. If you go see Shakespeare, it helps to read a brief synopsis of the play beforehand. That will allow you to follow along and understand the story line better. Once during the summer, I even read the actual play during the production on my phone. (I know...I know..., but we're sitting outside in a folding chair and shorts during the summer, and we're in Kentucky). That allowed me to pick up on details that I might have otherwise missed. I hope you all decide to give it a try.

    Razor: Supply Co.1 dot plate
    Blade: Personna Injector (3)
    Brush: PAA Switchback/TGN boar
    Pre-shave: Stirling Mentholated
    Soap: Hendrix Classics & Co.
    Stirling Bay Rum witch hazel
AS: CC Cat O' Nine Tails

    Good morning!

I went with the 1 dot plate in the Supply this morning. Minimal blade feel but efficient enough to achieve BBS with my usual three passes but with some quick touch ups along my jaw and neck. Easy shave with no complaints from me or the alum.

Back to work. Have a great week![IMG]

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: GEM PTFE
    Razor: GEM Micromatic
    Brush: JR #142 black badger
    Soap: C.O. Bigelow cream
Post: TSD Iced SubZero witch hazel, TSD Iced SubZero aftershave

Nice Menthol Monday combination. The Bigelow cream is good stuff and works quite well. The Micromatic swiped it away easily and efficiently and the Iced SubZero post-shave products provided wonderful cold goodness. Great shave to start the work week.

    Have a great day!

I understand the frustration of finishing one soap too, Keith. It's kind of silly, when you consider that our fathers and their fathers got frustrated when their only shave soap ran out so quickly. Silly, or...embarrassing, not sure which...

Neal, do you attribute the alum reaction to the blades or the slide? I can't imagine that if you kept the correct angle, the Gillette "Slide" would be the culprit.
