    November 26 SOTD:

    Razor: PAA Ascension SS
    Blade: Rapira Swedish Super Steel
    Brush: Ever-Ready 150
    Lather: CO Bigelow
    Aftershave: Proraso Green
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Unscented PSB

After a long break from work, I am slowly getting back into the swing of things. I didn't shave for most of the weekend, at least until yesterday before church. Yesterday's shave was with the ER 1924, and I followed up with the Ascension today. Nice and smooth. As always, the Bigelow SC was top notch, and my early morning shave was a nice way to refresh after the gym. I hope everyone has a great day!

You seem to have the right idea. Maybe someday I'll get there. I hope.
It seems that, eventually, most of us reach a "saturation point" with both hardware and software. It's a bit different for us who made shaving a hobby, instead of being just another chore. Even still, too much stuff is, well....too much stuff. The problem is that new stuff keeps coming out! ;)
Realistically, all razors do the same thing. Software? They basically all do the same thing (with varying degrees of performance). There's nothing wrong with pairing down - keeping and using the gear you enjoy using.

Great photo Jason. Sounds like a good idea to dial back the 3rd pass for now.

November 26, 2018- NOthing But Techs

    Razor: NDC Post-War Nickel Tech
    Blade: 7 o'Clock Permasharp Stainless (2)
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Soap: Stirling Sheep
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

No shave yesterday. Back again today with my last post-War Tech, a Nickel-plated NDC from before mid-1950.
    IMG_0322.jpg
This was the first or second post-War Tech that I purchased. (I'd have to dig through old posts to be certain.) I seem to recall that I picked it up so that I had something to compare to the British Post-War one that I had issues with. It was inexpensive due to its rough condition, particularly the black spots on the handle which have resisted my attempts at cleanup. As I mentioned on Saturday, this is the other one I have with the frosted logo, though most of that has been obscured by issues with the plating.

All that said, this one is still a candidate for flawsome status. A nice, smooth shave with no issues.

Four more days left to the month and three Gillette Techs left in my den.

    Soap & Aftershave

Early morning shave with late morning post. Everything worked well together. The big Shavemac devoured the soap and whipped up a rich lather with little effort. Three passes and touch ups just missed the baby. A splash of R4L aftershave and I was out the door for a lighter than usual commute. I hope everyone has a great Monday.

Your welcome Bruce. The angle of the bevel is determined by the width of the spine and the height of the blade ( spine to bevel) the style of the spine has no real bearing on the angle. The wear on the spine is normally where the problems for the angle come from. So even ones with spine wear can be honed and become great shavers, ugly yes but still very functional none the less.

Another great report John. I’ve learned a lot about Techs from your posts this month.

    Nice shave and photo, Jason!

Thanks, Jason! This was my first use of TSD witch hazel. It seemed like it had other ingredients worked in, in a very positive way. The face feel was silky. Perhaps some glycerine or something else is part of the concoction. It felt better than a straight drug store witch hazel that I normally use. Too bad it couldn't be shipped to Canada.

    Thank you, Jim!

Terrific shaves and photos, Jim, John, and Clint!

Clint - I was considering the R4L set when I ordered from Stirling this past Friday. But the set had sold out after being available for quite a while. Glad you're enjoying it.

I have noticed a definite trend in the software I keep. Cologne based scents have to really wow me. My soaps and splashes are mostly floral or citrus based. I'm also much more picky about buying stuff now. I won't get a full sized new scent unless I know I like it, or won't have any trouble reselling it. I counted again last night, and when the two Stirling sets get here, I will be back up to 34 soaps. I need to double down on my soap use efforts. This month, I got a little off track with all the samples I got at the meet up. I have finished off two small samples, and am working on a larger one now, that I hope to finish on Friday. (Those three together will count as a one ounce soap down.) Then back to the Titanic on my other soaps.

Thank you Perry. I’m a vetiver junky and really like the R4L scent. It’s a light fresh vetiver with citrus tones to brighten it up. It really is a first class scent. I hope he makes it part of the regular lineup.

Adaptations of Shakespeare plays are a great way to grasp the story. One of my favorites done in period sets, costume, and original dialogue is Burton & Taylor's Taming of the Shrew.

KMF is one of those "Everybody else has it" so I tried it, too - soaps. It's a decent product! Finding it on the shelf locally helped even if I had to walk into a Health Food shop. Those folks have the best selection of essential oils with testers. Some things can't be purchased without a good sniff.

    Monday and another shave day...:happy036:
There's no denying that I now really LOVE to shave. Who would have thunk:signs002:

Really dialed in the RRXXX today. Lots of water at the start and, as I usually do, built the lather on the puck.
So, I loaded a new blade in the 37C (No-Name Super Chromium; something that came with a lot that I bought a while back)

First, I sanitized it with some 92% alcohol. There's no telling where these used blades have been!
First downward pull on my left cheek, under the sideburn and...WTH???? Pull, drag, bounce! Ugh! :angry019:
Out it came immediately. Binned it and popped in a new Feather. Phew! What a relief. :)
Three passes for a wonderful, smooth and eventually uneventful shave.
Thayer's, XXX AS and the "Milk" :signs002: Completed today's excursion into shaving pleasure.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's episode titled: "More of the same" :happy102:

Since I have the 1 dot plate I had to put it to use, like you said, for science.
    Thanks, Jim!
