    Thank you Gentlemen!
It's just one more brush. If it weren't for my low brush count I'd not have used the badger & boar mixed knot. Now I understand what others see in them.

Check Amazon, they are cheap. Be certain what size you want. I palm my bowl in my off hand when stirring it up. Both of mine fit just right where a previous was smaller. Much easier to make lather than in a mug. I'm convinced the textured inner surface helps mix the soap / water / air.

If you enjoy that C.O.Bigelow, the Green AS isn't an exact match but the minty scent and menthol are great. Jim @ jluc understands. This morning I'm still catching whiffs of the Red AS from last night. It has staying power.

Thanks to my lack of attention to details, and Jason's @jtspartan sharp eye - now I need to get Blue cream & White AS. Proraso is the Pokemon of shave software.

My daughter apologized for raiding my shave gear couple days ago after she used my Type J. Just random chance & the long handle that she chose it over an E or G. I showed her how the Golden 500 has that Hydro Magic lever so she's going to try it next. Might need to tuck the Type M away before she spots it, too. I think I've got her interested in something better than twin disposables.

Thanks guys. I'm fixin' to go up for the morning shave, and I will spend more time loading while adding water slowly. As I figured, the lather consistency probably has more to do with my technique than the soap itself. Thanks again.

Cool beans! Better hit some antique stores to expand your razor inventory in preparation for future divestitures to your daughter and eventually to your grand daughters.

Congrats on the fantastic news Charlie. You should really be proud of the results thus far.

I know you’re excited about the progress on the house. When do you anticipate it being completed?

Pleasant shave this morning. Face-lathered a nice lather and this razor did a fine job over 3 easy passes. I’ve avoided going ATG on my neck for a few days. I’m not completely smooth, but very close to it. This razor (mainly due to being made from zamac, I suppose) gets a bad rap but really is a fine shaver.
Two more days left in the month, 2 more razors in the den, exactly. Precisely two more tubs of soap as well, without digging out the Arko or any more samples. This has been a fun focus.
    Have a great day all!

Thank you, Clint. I appreciate the kind words.

We're hoping to move sometime in late April or possibly May. We began talking with our builder in August of 2017, but it's starting to seem real now. One home in the neighborhood has been finished, and the family has moved in. Our next door neighbors from Minnesota are moving into their home around Christmas. I hope they are sorely disappointed in Kentucky winters. :D

Andrew, I was typing up a Shavette Fu post when you asked. Now that Paul @Paul Turner won the Lucky Poster contest (I wonder what he's going to get?) I don't mind upping the post count, but I like the multiquote feature.

The scent is familiar, but I can't pin it down to a specific product. There's some of that pencil shavings flavor, but not quite. Isolating the sandalwood from other scents helps since it's not lost in a mix. The post shave feel is on par with other Proraso products. Like Green splash lotion it has alcohol. Glycerin gives a smooth hydrated feel, and the castor & shea oils help too. They call it "Moisturizing & Nourishing".

Lucky Poster contest? Oh, you mean receiving the Stoylin gift certificate, right?

It has been fun following your focus this month, Jason. You always bring out some cool stuff to use and share with us. I started with a Muhle R89, a clone of the EJ89, and I agree that it's a great razor with a snazzy looking chrome finish.

Have a great day, my friend, and stay warm.

    RazoRock XXX~~Rooney Emillion 2~~Gillette New LC~~Feather
18˚ this morning and I'm using XXX...
Now, I don't really get wrapped up in seasonal soaps, but my first thought was, mmmmm Bay Rum....:eatdrink020:
I love Bay Rum on a cold day. Makes me want to go split logs.

If you put your glasses on and look really, really closely, you should be able to discern the very beginning of a doughnut hole.
(Not quite centered, but I can see it... I think)
Loaded the Rooney as if it were my last shave; and it really is...until tomorrow. :p
With the Aesop bowl in hand, I proceeded to whip up some quality suds. (Not sure I like that terminology :signs002: )

Here's a question to those of you doing more than simply scanning these posts:
When you bowl lather, do you face-lather too? OR, do you, as I tend to do, dab/lightly apply the product?
I can't see the reasoning behind bowl-lathering and subsequently face-lathering.
For me, it's one or the other.
BTW, the real test of quality lather is if it performs when simply dabbed on.
Today, I have to say that the XXX shone. Beautifully.
This soap seemed to really benefit form the added whipping and hydration.
The Gillette New LC is without a doubt THE loudest shaver I own. What feedback!
Scraping burnt toast with a dry butter knife.
However, loaded with the Feather blade, it may have been noisy, but it was smooth as silk.
3 Passes, bit o' the "buf" and a nice DFS.
No chasing the baby. I have seriously put that urge to sleep for good. :mog:
Nice post-shave with the Thayer's Medicated, followed by the RR XXX AS and that cow stuff.

Thank you, Andrew! Yes, the splashes are pretty expensive. They had a 15% off sale on Black Friday and I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Terrific face feel from the splash today.

Terrific post and photo, Joseph! I can't help you much with the bowl and face lathering question. I face lather exclusively despite owning a scuttle and two or three really nice bowls.

Great picture and shave, Jason! I agree that it's been a fun focus for us to follow.

I already know that I will be going unfocused for December. In September, I stayed almost exclusively with SE razors, mostly Injectors. In October, I tried to stay with my OC razors and this month, I've been using Gillette Tech razors exclusively. As a result, I've not touched an Injector in almost two months and most of my TTOs (including my FatBoy) in almost three. It's time to pull out ones that have not gotten some love in a while as well as a couple of ones that I haven't tried yet like a later Schick J, a somewhat sad TV Special, and (if I get very daring) a Rolls.

As for this month's focus, fate solved my problem of having three days and only two Techs by screwing up my morning to the point where I decided to skip this morning's shave. Problem solved. :)

Thank you, Andrew! This morning's shave was just smooth and easy. I've been a fan of Feathers since my very first shave with one.

    Thanks Perry.
I think you'll find the lather takes on a very different texture when bowl-lathered. Fluffier.
