John, the PAL Adjustable is a cooling looking razor. I wasn't familiar with them, so I did read a bit about their history. Does it have any date of manufacture markings?

At the very least it is my favourite Gillette. I'd hate to have it arm wrestle a MonoBilt to break the deadlock...
14 shaves! That is impressive, John. Great pic as well. Apart from the scent you commented on, how is the performance of that Soap?
Interesting comment, James. When I do face lather, I enjoy that scrubbing/exfoliating feeling. That and the nice feel of the bristles on my face are what I miss when I bowl lather.
Fantastic looking gear, Randy. It sounds like you know what you are doing with honing, and you have been having success with other blades, so perhaps it just isn't the style of blade/ grind for you? I'm only guessing as I know next to nothing about straights.
Interesting, Jim. The quality and consistency of the lather is the #1 reason I do bowl lather when I do (#2 would be having the same soap consistency for all passes). I can almost always add water in small amounts and in time get that 'boom' or explosion of lather where it seems to just thickly expand in the bowl. As mentioned above, I do enjoy the 'feel' of face lathering a lot as well. That's probably why I let my mood -and the product- dictate what I do on different days.
Sounds like you've enjoyed the month, Terry. We've certainly enjoyed seeing your shaves get better and better. The next step is for you to ask questions about significant Den expansion...
Great looking combo, Keith. That knot looks like it is breaking in well.

    Dubl Duck Dwarf
    Mitchels wool fat
    Henry cavendish pure badger
    Nivea post shave balm
    Shulton old spice

Right after starting the first pass I felt the duck tugging slightly so had to grab the stones and get to work refreshing the edge. ( 12k Chinese natural, trans Arkansas) it had around 35/40 shaves since the last refresh. Once the edge was refreshed relathered and went about my shave. The razor was gliding through the growth almost effortlessly. The end result was a very close comfortable shave. 9493DDB5-7C53-47AC-8508-D83062EBC2AA.jpeg

Let's see. It's 12:06 a.m. and I am just sitting down to dinner. Yep, this will be a shave free night. Don't work the next two days so don't really care if I look good tomorrow or not. I'll catch up around here tonight and tomorrow and be ready to finish off with two more shaves tomorrow and Friday night. Enjoy your Thursday!

Here's to hoping! At a shave every other day, 188 days (over 6 months!) seems a long time away! I'm not sure if I'll stay with a shave every other day for the duration - that's just what is working for me now!

This has been one of the moments where TTT has really shown itself to be true! Even with 3 passes I couldn't get a smooth face with this razor... Now... Well :love029:

Great job, Terry! We're all really pleased for you :)

A fine example of YMMV :)
I am not certain that I will continue doing it this way forever. Then again, maybe I will. It works, for now, so I'll stick with it... For now! :D

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: vintage Personna Ultra Chrome
    Razor: Schick L5 'Revere' injector
    Brush: Artisan badger
    Soap: Soap Commander Fortitude
Post: Witch hazel, Soap Commander Fortitude aftershave

Easy shave with this combination. The Revere injector glided right through well-hydrated and slick lather. One teeny tiny weeper right below my chin but otherwise issue free.

    Have a great day!

    November 29 SOTD:

    Razor: Edwin Jagger Chatsworth Barley
    Blade: Polsilver
    Brush: PAA The Green Ray
    Lather: Stirling British Leather
    Aftershave: Stirling British Leather
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Unscented PSB

I don't know how long it has been since I used this razor, but I rarely pull it out. It is nice shaver, though, as I got a DFS off of two passes. The Stirling is definitely dwindling, but it was some nice lather this morning. I hope everyone has a great day!
