I had my second shave for this month this morning.
Same as the first but I did two passes with plate 6 and finished up with plate 4.
This Rockwell razor may not be the prettiest or sexiest razor out there but it is a work horse.
It has a lot of low end torque. It just keeps on pulling!
Great shave and finished up with some Clubman Pinard Classic after shave.
I like the challenge of "1 brush, 1 soap, 1 brand of blades, 1 razor for 30 days". It helps me to focus and work on my technique.

Thanks a lot. Y'all are always looking out for my best interest. However I did start laying the ground work at home for a Karve. I pulled up a picture of one on the web and showed to my wife. She said "ohhh wow that is pretty."

Was out of the house very early this morning for a meeting, but id get up quite early to make sure I had time to enjoy this shave fully. I have decided to stick with my favourite Gillette OC for the next few days. I've only used this brush 3 or 4 times now, but it has definitely reached favourite/decadent status already. I face lathered this awesome soap and easily had enough lather for 3 smooth passes. Love the scent and the performance of this lather, there are none better in my den. Others are just as good, but none better. I heard word the soap company was going under a year ago, so I bought an extra tub of this soap. It turns out they didn't fold, but rather sold to someone else. The new owners changed the labeling and the name of the company (First Canadian Shave instead of FC Shave Soap Co) and dropped the Cuba reference in the name of this soap, but still offer the Maximo Gomez. I have no idea whether it is the exact same formula or just the same scent. I'll email them someday to find out, I suppose.
Finishing with the awesome Tobacco Bay Leaf was just the icing on the cake. Awesome shave.

John, it was awesome that you gave the Rolls a shot! The hone on the Rolls is so slow and the blade is so hard that the hone is really only good for maintaining an already shave ready blade. If you want to get in to shave ready condition you will need to get the blade honed. If you don't mind an amateur honing the blade for you, I would be willing to do it for you.

Thanks Nirav! In all honestly I don't really notice a difference because I use all of my razors like a slant. I use an oblique stroke(AKA Gillette slide and guillotine stroke) with my non-slant razors. I find this very helpful to slice the whiskers rather plow through and pop them. With the oblique stroke you hold the head of the razor slightly off parallel while making a straight stroke. Hopefully this info-graphic will explain it a little better:

John, What you have there is a Grand Shave King Self Lubricating Razor, it was the inspiration for all modern dual open comb razors. Sorry to hear about Pete, It is one of the biggest responsibilities of a pet owner to know when that hard decision must be made and you absolutely did the right thing.

Thank you, Andrew! That was definitely a mega-fu multi-quote. The performance of the Haverford soap was tremendous as expected. Just never shaved with a lather that wasn't white, so it piqued my interest.

Thanks also for posting the super-goop video. I was looking for it yesterday and couldn't find it. @ordinaryshaver - definitely watch that video if you want to improve your lathers.

Andrew I think the Dart is probably a 6 or 7 out of 10 in aggressiveness depending on your frame of reference.

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
Blade: Schick
Razor: Schick H1 injector
Brush: JR #60 synthetic
Soap: Stirling Haverford
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Haverford aftershave

Nice results with the Hussy and Stirling's new Haverford scent. This soap is a darker brown color and then changed to a tan color after sousing. The lather had the color of melted chocolate ice cream. But the performance was top notch - slick and protective with great post shave feel. Wonderful Stirling lather as usual. I have a mild cold so can't comment faithfully on the scent, but the shave was nice in the end.

Long day today with school followed by our big Fine Arts Holiday concert tonight. Student art is on display in the school lobby with a photography slide show in the auditorium, then choir and band swap back and forth with performances. The theater kids made a short video and act as concert moderators, so it involves all of the arts at the school. Neat event for the community. Big thing for us to plan and execute, so I'll be tired tonight, but that's how it goes!

Excellent three pass shave from the Dart. BBS with silent alum. I don't have many shaves in with the Dart but it's already a favorite. Easy shaves that just come naturally.

I loaded a fresh GSB into each of my DE's this last weekend to test them out. I haven't been a fan. They have never felt smooth to me. It must have been me because so far they feel great.

The Dart looks stunning, Jim. I've nosed around there website (For Science!) and see that the Dart is roughly 1/2 the price of the other razors. Do you know why? Is it not fully Stainless?

A great shave today with the Blackland Dart. Two passes plus cleanup yielded a near perfect shave. B-400 by @twhite and Mike's Coconut made for an exotically smooth, protective and scary close shave. Topped it off with a generous dousing of Folsom Capri. Too bad Folsom & Co. is no longer. Have a great shave and a terrific Tuesday gang.

I enjoyed an easy three-pass shave this morning on a day of growth: WTG, ATG, and XTG. I loaded extra soap onto to the brush (20 minutes per the @Primotenore method) and was rewarded with PLEN-T of SC lather. The nice thing about using the same soap every day is that it stays semi-soused in a perpetual state of bloom until its final demise. Such was indeed the case today!

Things were going exceedingly well, so I opted for the third pass. Three passes in my den occur about as often as someone issues the Triple Dog Dare 'round these parts. I had some warmth from the alum, but it was not bad. I'll call it the Kentucky Hug. I finished with Vigoroso and two shots of Aramis, so I'm rockin' old man scents on this wintry day. @Paul Turner, Tuesday is Senior Day, so I'll see you in Aisle 12.

1947 was a great year for Gillette. Their SS was one of the great razors ever manufactured.
Definitely some debate, understandably so, but this model was a winner.
I own better looking razors, but I don't own any that shave any better.
Perma Sharp made its fourth or fifth appearance---not sure as I have given up the habit of counting.
Oh, I used to use the die, featured in my SOTD shots. I have moved on.
One of the best features of the RR XXX is the scent. Brilliant.
We are getting closer to the end of the product. It's possible that the AS will run out first.
Shout out to @NCoxSTL for the Stirling Gift Certificate.
Purchased 3 bath soaps and the Glacial Unscented ASB.

Congrats on the prizes, Joseph. I have ditched the dice as well. If I use a razor for a few consecutive days, I'll keep track of the days on the blade easily enough. If I put a razor back in the rack with a blade in it, my rule is that it is good enough to use again. No blade in the razor means I pitched it and it needs another. Seemed like a decent plan, but doesn't work with the Injectors...

Oh she is not only a gym instructor, she is the Cartel's look out and muscle and I do mean muscle but she also has a sweet and understanding side under that rough (insert cough, cough) exterior. If you are using Russian blades then you have nothing to fear.

Oh, I used to use the die, featured in my SOTD shots. I have moved on.
One of the best features of the RR XXX is the scent. Brilliant.
We are getting closer to the end of the product. It's possible that the AS will run out first.

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
Blade: Schick
Razor: Schick H1 injector
Brush: JR #60 synthetic
Soap: Stirling Haverford
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Haverford aftershave

Nice results with the Hussy and Stirling's new Haverford scent. This soap is a darker brown color and then changed to a tan color after sousing. The lather had the color of melted chocolate ice cream. But the performance was top notch - slick and protective with great post shave feel. Wonderful Stirling lather as usual. I have a mild cold so can't comment faithfully on the scent, but the shave was nice in the end.

Long day today with school followed by our big Fine Arts Holiday concert tonight. Student art is on display in the school lobby with a photography slide show in the auditorium, then choir and band swap back and forth with performances. The theater kids made a short video and act as concert moderators, so it involves all of the arts at the school. Neat event for the community. Big thing for us to plan and execute, so I'll be tired tonight, but that's how it goes!

Good morning!

Excellent three pass shave from the Dart. BBS with silent alum. I don't have many shaves in with the Dart but it's already a favorite. Easy shaves that just come naturally.

I loaded a fresh GSB into each of my DE's this last weekend to test them out. I haven't been a fan. They have never felt smooth to me. It must have been me because so far they feel great.

OK, this is a great soap. It is slick and the post shave feel is as good as the best soaps I have tried. Just a wonderful shave this morning. I am off to work today when my new boss will have his first staff meeting, so I'll get an idea of what to really expect. The refinery is shaking things up, so this next year should be interesting. I had my second shave for this month this morning.
Same as the first but I did two passes with plate 6 and finished up with plate 4.
This Rockwell razor may not be the prettiest or sexiest razor out there but it is a work horse.
It has a lot of low end torque. It just keeps on pulling!
Great shave and finished up with some Clubman Pinard Classic after shave.
I like the challenge of "1 brush, 1 soap, 1 brand of blades, 1 razor for 30 days". It helps me to focus and work on my technique.

I have been one for a while. I have the classic, Bay Rum, Whiskey Woods aftershaves. I also use their styling gel and talcum powder. I just love splashing the classic out of the Tabasco bottle.
