Are you looking for GEM, Artiast Club, or Injector ? For $100 you could probably get 4 or 5 vintage Gem and Injector razors.
To be honest I don't have the first damn clue about any of the SE razors. I've not used a vintage SE ever, nor would I want one. I'm looking at One blade, Supply, Mongoose, Razorock , and the claymore(made by executive shaving). I want something that can take the feather blades and kai blades.
No My opposition comes from a lack of knowledge. I don't know much about vintages to be comfortable using them. Plus, are vintages as well engineered as the modern se razors like One blade ?
OK, so you are looking specifically at Artist Club razors. I that realm I can provide no assistance. BTW the One Blade razor is not at Artist Club, it uses spineless Feather Spineless Single Edge blades only.
Oh and the Supply is an injector razor, so its out too. Some have lasted for over 1oo years, so I would say that they are.
Yes I read that there's no option of using other blades with the one blade. Only feather spinless. Well could you suggest what vintage se razors would be a good place to begin ? And what blades they would take.
OK so here is a quick run down of the major players in the modern single edge scene and the blades that they use One Blade Feather Spineless Single edge or Modified GEM blade Blackland Sabre - Gem Blade Blackland Vector - Artist Club Above the Tie - G1 Gem Above the Tie - SE1 and SE2 Atrist Club PAA Starling - Gem RazoRock Blackhawk - Artist Club Mongoose - Artist Club Cobra - Artist Club Supply - Injector General - Artist Club Ikon El Hefe and MR-SE - Artist Club Claymore - Artist Club Paridigm Titanium SE -Artist Club OREN Nano - Artist Club There are probably others, but those are the major players .
For Vintage there are basically three types razors that these blades: Gem Blades: Gem, Ever Ready, and Star razors are the most common Injector Blades: Schick Injector Razors and PAL Injector razors are the most common Feather Spineless (not common) The Valet Autostrop razors use the feather spineless blades, some can use a modified Gem blade.
The two on the left are Gem style razors, the two in the middle are injectors with a vintage blade loader, and the one on the right is a Valet Autostrop. Sent from my Galaxy using Tapatalk

Depends on what degree of efficiency you want to start at. The Gem Micromatic Clog Pruf is a good middle ground razor, as is the Schick I Type imo.
Lots of great choices and your budget is more than generous for vintage SEs. I’d recommend a middle of the road Schick to start - maybe the “I” as a benchmark for aggressiveness. Personally I think the E2 is pretty close to ideal but YMMV. If you want a benchmark SE using GEM blades I’d go with any of the 1912 variations. My suggestion is to go wild and get both a Schick and a 1912 - no problem budgetwise. After you get some experience adjusting to the technique you can get lost in all the great choices available.
Thank you, as someone who's never bought vintage razors, would you say eBay is a good place to begin ?

Agreed, modern artist clubs are overrated and not easier. Use a old schick injector and the Chick blades are ez to get on Amazon and cheap... Get a 1912 and carbon gem blades are sold at Walgreens, rite aid and CVS...
